Accel Backs GetJar

GetJar, a mobile application distribution and developer community, has raised an undisclosed amount of Series A funding from Accel Partners. The company has offices in the UK and Lithuania.

GetJar ( /, the world's most popular mobile application distribution and developer community, has closed a Series A investment from Accel Partners. Working with entrepreneurs from around the world, Accel has been responsible for developing and enhancing some of the world's leading brands of our era including companies such as: Facebook, MetroPCS, Riverbed, RealNetworks and Macromedia.

Founded by CEO, Ilja Laurs, in Lithuania, GetJar has recently passed the 100 million downloads barrier and boasts a user base covering every country in the world with a mobile infrastructure in place. The company has recently relocated its headquarters to London with Accel Partners Heikki Makijarvi and Kevin Comolli taking up positions on the GetJar Board of Directors.
