Actis has appointed Shami Nissan as a director in the responsible investment team. Nissan is based in the London office and takes up her post with immediate effect.

Actis, the pan-emerging markets private equity firm, today announces the appointment of Shami Nissan as a Director in the Responsible Investment team. Shami is based in the London office and takes up her post with immediate effect.
Shami joins Actis with over 13 years’ experience in responsible investment, primarily serving the private equity and financial services sectors. Her most recent post was as a member of PwC’s Sustainability and Climate Change team. Prior, to this, Shami led the London business of Innovest Strategic Value Advisors, providing sustainability research and analytics to institutional investors and asset managers. Shami has also worked with United Nations Development Programme in Central America.
Shami will provide leadership to the Responsible Investment team and work closely with portfolio companies and their management teams across Actis’s markets. The firm has had a dedicated in-house Responsible Investment team since it opened for business in 2004. It considers the success of its portfolio companies not only in financial terms but also in social and environmental terms.
