Alan Spurgin Joins Square 1 Bank

Alan Spurgin has joined Square 1 Bank as an executive vice president of technology banking.

Square 1 Bank, a diversified financial services company, today announced that Alan P. Spurgin has joined the bank as an Executive Vice President. Mr. Spurgin will be a member of Square 1 Bank’s management team, with responsibilities that will include overseeing the Bank’s national technology and later stage lending practices.

Mr. Spurgin has spent the majority of his career in the central and southeast regions of the United States, where his leadership roles at Silicon Valley Bank, Wachovia (First Union) Securities and Scotia Capital included Managing Director/Head of Corporate Finance, Central Region, and Executive Vice President/Southeast Region Manager. Mr. Spurgin has experience expanding the market presence of institutions in a wide variety of sectors, and executing on sales/client strategies.

Mr. Spurgin is a resident of Louisville, Colorado, where his affiliations include the Colorado CxO Dealmakers Roundtable and the Association for Corporate Growth, and he has participated as an MBA Mentor for the Denver University Daniels College of Business. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois, with an MBA from the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland.
