Altira Group Promotes Pair

Altira Group has promoted both Sean Ebert and Cory Steffek from senior associates to principals. Ebert joined the energy-focused firm in March 2008 from Booz Allen Hamilton, while joined the following month after receiving his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.

Altira Group LLC – a pioneer and leader in venture capital and private equity funding for energy technology companies, announced today the promotion of two team members.

Sean Ebert and Cory Steffek have been promoted from Senior Associate to Principal effective immediately.

Sean Ebert joined Altira in March 2008 from Booz|Allen|Hamilton where he spent eight years in their energy practice advising energy companies on portfolio strategy, new business model development, and capital investment decisions. Mr.

Ebert’s operational experience includes his role as an engineer for El Paso Energy, and as the CEO of an early stage energy technology company, Foresight Weather. Mr. Ebert serves on the boards of oil and gas software companies TransZap, AGM, and Syntex where he uses his unique combination of engineering and energy consulting experience to help commercialize promising technology. He earned his BS in Civil Engineering and MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.

Cory Steffek joined Altira in April 2008 after receiving his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management. As Group Leader of the Product Engineering Group at PPG Industries, Dr. Steffek directed a portfolio of clean technology development projects to successful product launch. While at Altira, Cory has distinguished himself with his professionalism and keen instincts in securing and guiding portfolio companies on their structure and growth plans. He serves as a board member of OPX and Varadigm, and has played an integral role in helping these companies attain their revenue goals. Dr. Steffek also has a PhD in Chemistry with a concentration in Materials from the University of Michigan.
