American Century SICAV has introduced a new Emerging Markets Equity Fund. The Fund managed by American Century Investments complements existing fund strategies: Global Growth Equity, Concentrated Global Growth Equity and U.S. All Cap Growth Equity.
Emerging Market Equity Fund – Uses American Century’s ‘earnings acceleration’ approach to investing in companies in emerging markets around the world. Specifically, it searches for companies with a market capitalisation greater than $500 million and where a catalysts can be identified (secular, cyclical, product or management related) which will lead to accelerating earnings growth. The acceleration factors allow more effective identification of companies in the beginning stages of their growth cycle. This, combined with detailed fundamental analysis and a strict buy/sell discipline, is designed to help generate excess returns over time.
The Fund adopts American Century’s existing Emerging Markets strategy, which has been used by a mutual fund available to US investors since 1997 and has almost $800 million in AUM. The fund seeks to outperform the MSCI Emerging Markets index. The US based strategy has outperformed the index by 1.21 year to date, 3.84 over one year, 3.04 over three years (gross of fees to 31/08/13 in USD) and 0.03 over five years.*
Emerging Markets Fund global investment team includes experienced portfolio managers Patricia Ribeiro and Anthony Han, supported by a team of analysts.
Michael Green, American Century Investments Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer International, said: “By using the same investment philosophy, American Century’s new Emerging Markets Equity Fund complements our existing Global and US Equity funds. The new fund provides European investors with a further opportunity to partner with American Century’s global portfolio management team. Emerging market growth rates are projected to remain higher than those in the developed world and we believe that American Century’s investment approach that focuses on earnings acceleration is ideally suited to take advantage of the opportunities that these exciting markets present. ”
