Earlier this year, I was asked to compile a list of VC firms investing in New England-based life sciences companies. More specifically, I was asked to rank them.
This was largely a thankless task, since it was bound to piss off any number of people (including some of my sources). But then I realized that pissing off people is part of my job description, even if this particular endeavor was not for Daddy Thomson. So I went ahead, and devised a ranking system that included both qualitative and quantitative metrics.
It was published in The Convergence Guide, which was distributed at the recent BIO International Convention, with Mass. Gov. Deval Patrick writing the forward. The top firm was Polaris Venture Partners.
