Ardian-based Ionisos acquires Scandinavian Clinics Estonia

Ionisos, which is backed by Ardian, has acquired Scandinavian Clinics Estonia, a Baltic provider of sterilization solutions. No financial terms were disclosed.


Dagneux (Rhône-Alpes Auvergne) – 9 October 2017 – Ionisos, the leading provider of cold sterilisation services in France and Spain, today announces the acquisition of Scandinavian Clinics Estonia, a specialist in sterilisation solutions.

Established in 2007 and based in Harju County, Estonia, Scandinavian Clinics Estonia is the leading Baltic specialist in gamma ray sterilisation. Through this acquisition, Ionisos will strengthen its presence in the gamma sector and expand its reach in Eastern and Northern Europe. It will now operate in countries such as Norway, Sweden, Finland, Poland, as well as the Baltic States.

Ionisos is a French company founded in 1993, which manages nine plants in France, Spain, Germany and now Estonia. Ionisos is a specialist in ionising cold sterilisation using ionisation and ethylene oxide for the medical sector, pharmaceutical products, cosmetics and food packaging. The company is also active in the cross-linking of various products used in industry, particularly the automotive industry.

Created in 2007 and based in Harju County in Estonia, near Tallinn, Scandinavian Clinics Estonia is the leader among Baltic States in gamma-ray sterilisation. The treatment is performed using a gamma irradiator that functions with containers of 0.6 usable cubic metres. The installed capacity allows the company to meet sterilisation needs in Northern Europe (Norway, Sweden, Finland, Poland and the Baltic states).
Scandinavian Clinics Estonia will now be called IONISOS Baltics.
