ATV Staffs Up

Tom Caputo, Ken Ebbitt and Dharmesh Thakker have joined Advanced Technology Ventures as senior associates. Caputo previously was with Microsoft as group product manager for Windows. Ebbitt was a senior product marketing manager at PayPal, in charge of global checkout solutions for the company on eBay. Thakker was director of corporate development at Keynote Systems.

Advanced Technology Ventures, a bi-coastal venture capital firm that invests in information technology, healthcare and cleantech companies, today announced that Thomas “Tom” Caputo, Ken Ebbitt and Dharmesh Thakker have joined the firm as Senior Associates.

Prior to ATV, Tom, Ken and Dharmesh had successful careers in technology and investment services, and each has over 10 years of operational and managerial experience. All three will be focused on ATV's IT practice, working with the firm's existing portfolio companies as well as identifying new investments in the software and services, internet and infrastructure market sectors. Tom is based in ATV's Waltham office, while Ken and Dharmesh work in the firm's Palo Alto office.

Tom Caputo joined ATV from Microsoft, most recently serving as Group Product Manager for Windows, where he developed and managed the Windows independent software vendor (ISV) ecosystem and initiatives. Prior to his tenure with Microsoft, he was Product Manager of QuickBooks at Intuit; Manager of e-commerce at Capital One Financial; and a Consultant with Mercer Management Consulting. Tom is also Founder and Developer of the profitable online golfer community site, MyScorecard.com. He holds an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a B.A. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Biophysical Chemistry, with Honors, from Dartmouth College.

Ken Ebbitt was previously a Senior Product Marketing Manager at PayPal where he managed global checkout solutions for PayPal on eBay. Prior to PayPal/ eBay, Ken worked as an Investment Analyst at Menlo Ventures where he evaluated early-stage investments in software, communications and internet infrastructure companies. He started his career at Hambrecht & Quist LLC/Chase H&Q. Ken received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and his B.A. from Middlebury College.

Dharmesh Thakker was the Director of Corporate Development at Keynote Systems where he focused on acquisitions in the wireless and software infrastructure sectors. He also launched Keynote's Web 2.0 and VoIP monitoring products. Previously, he was a member of the founding team at InterNetwork (acquired by FinePoint Technologies) and a Product Manager at Peakstone (acquired by Entrust). He was also a Consultant with Manhattan Associates and an Investment Banker at Thomas Weisel Partners. Dharmesh received his M.B.A. from the Wharton School and his B.S. in electrical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin where he graduated with highest honors.
