July 19 was a good day for Castle Harlan Inc. The New York buyout firm announced that it had agreed to sell Ames True Temper Inc., a maker of shovels, wheelbarrows and other lawn and garden equipment, to Griffon Corp. for $542 million. It had bought the company for $380 million in 2004.
