Balance Point adds new partner to team

Westport, Connecticut-based Balance Point Capital, which invests debt and equity into middle-market companies, has named Eric J. Dale as a partner. Previously, Dale worked at Nielsen Holdings where he was a chief legal officer and chief risk officer.


WESTPORT, Conn., Feb. 26, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Balance Point Capital (“Balance Point”), a leading provider of capital to lower middle market companies, is pleased to announce that Eric J. Dale has joined the firm as a Partner.

Mr. Dale brings extensive legal and transactional experience, having most recently served as Chief Legal Officer and Chief Risk Officer of Nielsen Holdings plc (NYSE: NLSN) where Mr. Dale was a member of the Executive Committee and led the Legal and Corporate Affairs organization. In that capacity, Mr. Dale oversaw all acquisitions, dispositions and joint ventures, as well as SEC and other compliance matters, privacy, litigation, intellectual property, security and enterprise risk management.

Prior to joining Nielsen, Mr. Dale was a partner at Robinson+Cole. There, he led the firm’s Strategic Planning Committee and Business Transactions Practice Group, representing entrepreneurs, companies and funds in financing, mergers & acquisitions, and commercial transactions, as well as organizational, governance, and regulatory matters.

Mr. Dale previously served as general counsel to a technology company and practiced law with Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP. He graduated with honors after studying economics at Clark University and earned his J.D. cum laude from New York Law School.

Mr. Dale is a member of the Board of Directors of Bankwell Financial Group (NASD: BWFG) where he chairs its Governance and Nominating Committee and its Compensation Committee, and is a member of its ALCO and Strategic Planning Committees.
