Canadian mid-market private equity firm Birch Hill Equity Partners recently promoted Andrew Fortier to partner. Fortier, who joined Birch Hill in 2011, played a leadership role in three portfolio investments: Shred-it International Inc, GDI Integrated Facility Services Inc and Marsulex Environmental Technologies Corp. All three companies have been involved in liquidity events of late. Shred-it, for example, was acquired earlier this month by Stericycle Inc for US$2.3 billion, while GDI went public in May. Fortier was previously a vice president at U.S. private equity firm Audax Group.

Andrew has made significant contributions to Birch Hill in many areas since he joined the firm in 2011. In particular, he has had a leadership role in Birch Hill’s investments in Shred-it, GDI and MET.
Andrew has 12 years of experience in private equity and investment banking. Prior to joining Birch Hill in 2011, he was a Vice President at Audax Group, a mid-market private equity firm based in Boston.
Previously, Andrew was an Analyst in the mergers & acquisitions group at Morgan Stanley.Andrew received his MBA from Harvard Business School and his HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, Western University.
