Biz Stone to Spark Capital

Biz Stone, who earlier this summer left Twitter with co-founder Jack Dorsey’s return to the CEO role, is now taking a strategic advisor’s role with one of his first funding partners, Spark Capital.

In a blog post earlier today, Spark general partner Bijan Sabet announced Stone would join as a strategic advisor. The VC is currently working out of its 2010 $360 million fund.

“Biz will help us think through and evaluate new investment opportunities,” Sabet said. “Additionally he will provide us with valuable insight about our current portfolio companies as well.”

Lately, Twitter (and its co-founders) have been making all kinds of headlines: Twitter just bought BackType, and, at the same time, it was revealed through the Wall St. Journal that the company is looking for more funding at a valuation that matches its secondary market trading levels of about $7 billion. Further, Twitter’s founders—including Stone, and Evan Williams—joined together to relaunch tech project Obvious Corp.
