Black Swift Group taps ex-road cyclist pro Hamilton as MD

Black Swift Group LLC has appointed Tyler Hamilton as a managing director. In his new role, Hamilton will lead the firm’s investor relations efforts and become the director of Black Swift’s new professional athlete wealth advisory group. Hamilton is a former professional road cyclist who competed in the Tour de France eight times.


Black Swift Group, LLC has named Tyler Hamilton as an incoming Managing Director. Hamilton will lead Black Swift’s investor relations efforts and become the Director of Black Swift’s newly formed Professional Athlete Wealth Advisory Group. Hamilton will report to Greg Casals, CEO and Chief Investment Officer.

Hamilton is a former professional road cyclist who competed in the Tour de France eight times, and finished second in the Giro d’Italia in 2002. He is also the co-author of the NYT bestselling book, The Secret Race: Inside the Hidden World of the Tour de France: Doping, Cover-ups, and Winning at All Costs, winner of the prestigious William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award in 2012.

As the Director of Black Swift’s investor relations, Hamilton will become a key contact for institutional investors and family offices for Black Swift’s private funds. He will work to enhance Black Swift’s efforts on the alignment of business growth and development plans and facilitate product evolution for the various Black Swift investment strategies. Black Swift’s private investment fund platform spans hedge funds, direct credit investments, private equity, and other alternative solutions. Hamilton will work closely with Greg Casals in deepening the firm’s client relationships.

As Head of the Professional Athlete Wealth Advisory Group, Hamilton will launch Black Swift’s efforts in providing investment advisory and planning to professional athletes. As a former professional athlete, Hamilton has firsthand knowledge of the challenges of managing and preserving wealth and the benefits of independent and specialist investment advisory.

Born and raised in Massachusetts, Hamilton attended the University of Colorado at Boulder from 1990 to 1993, studying Economics and racing on the alpine ski team. He turned professional in cycling in 1995 and raced for the U.S. Postal team in the 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 Tour De France editions. He went on to compete in three more Tours with Team CSC in 2002 and 2003, and Phonak in 2004. After his retirement in 2009, he launched Tyler Hamilton Training, a private coaching company providing world class training online to clients around the world. In 2003, he founded the MS Global charity ride, an annual week-long bike tour that has generated more than $1.7 million for the fight against MS. Hamilton also sits on the board for the nonprofit Can-Do Multiple Sclerosis.
