Gilles Dellaert is joining Blackstone Insurance Solutions as global head, according to a news release. Dellaert is the former co-president and chief investment officer of Global Atlantic, a retirement and life insurance company.
Blackstone Insurance Solutions was formed in 2018 to provide Blackstone’s asset management expertise to the insurance industry. Currently, Blackstone manages over $60 billion in assets for insurance companies.
As co-president of Global Atlantic, Dellaert served as chairman of the investment committee and chief investment officer. He previously worked in Goldman Sachs’ securities division credit trading and reinsurance businesses.
Dellaert holds a bachelor’s degree from Ghent University in Belgium.
His appointment at Blackstone Insurance Solutions begins on April 1, 2020. David Blitzer, global head of Blackstone’s Tactical Opportunities business, will run the BIS platform.
