Press Release

Blue Heron Capital, a private equity fund providing growth and expansion capital, announced today that it has closed an investment in Verisma Systems, Inc. (“Verisma”). NewSpring Capital, Jim Crook, former President of IDX Systems Corporation, and Jim Riley, former President of Capario, joined the financing round. Verisma will use the proceeds to expand sales and marketing, technology and management.

Verisma is a health information technology provider focused on delivering patented, cloud-based Release of Information (ROI) solutions to healthcare organizations across the country. The company is a leader in technology enabled ROI solutions, providing a compelling alternative to aggregate and transfer secure clinical data. Verisma’s ROI solutions allow its customers to automate workflow, improve turnaround times and decrease errors. Built on over a decade of industry experience, Verisma’s Release Manager allows healthcare providers to securely manage the release of patient medical records. With the explosion of medical information captured by disparate, unconnected systems within a hospital or health system, the need for an efficient and compliant ROI provider is at an all-time high.

“Verisma’s patented software solution is improving the release of information by automating a formerly manual process and increasing compliance and patient data security while reducing costs,” said Tom Benedetti, Co-Founder of Blue Heron. “Our firm continues to invest in unique and innovative technology solutions to help reduce the costs of healthcare in America.”

“Verisma is exciting to be partnering with Blue Heron Capital,” said Ken Thompson, Chairman of Verisma. “With over 10,000 hospitals in North America, the need for a cutting-edge technology based ROI solution has become more urgent with increased penalties for improper release. The Blue Heron team brings significant operational knowledge, critical insight, and key industry contacts to our growing enterprise.“

Jim Riley, an Operating Advisor with Blue Heron Capital, will join the Verisma Board of Directors on behalf of Blue Heron.
