It isn’t just the CFO of Goldman Sachs that’s on his way out. PE pros are jumping ship to join one Goldman LBO veteran’s new venture.
When one of Goldman Sachs’ PE pros, Gene Yoon, split to launch an LBO shop with the help of a major European LP, he said in June that his new investment arm at his new company would keep filling itself out at the junior and mid-level ranks.
One of Bregal’s additions at VP is Adam Fuller, another Goldman Sachs PE pro, who spent five years with the listed bank’s growth equity merchant banking division.
Other Goldman veterans to join Yoon’s shop include Michael Kosty (VP) and Pavan Tripathi (senior associate); other new recruits include Matthew Koven, formerly of Welsh Carson, and Tom Jackson, formerly of Blackstone, who will each focus on tech, according to Bregal’s site.
When Bregal Sagemount launched, it did so with Yoon’s former colleague from his days at Great Hill Partners, Phil Yates (partner), and Daniel Kim (partner), former Vice President at Goldman Sachs’ Americas Special Situations Group.
Yoon didn’t waste time putting capital to work with his new $500 million vehicle—in August, the investor backed Vital Insights, an international company that makes customer experience management software, with $20 million.
