BSG Buys Iconixx

BSG Alliance Corp., an Austin, Texas-based provider of on-demand enterprise software, has acquired Iconixx Corp., a Houston-based provider of on-demand solutions for global talent management in mid-sized and large enterprises. No financial terms were disclosed. BSG last year raised $20 million in VC funding from Foundation Capital, Hummer Winblad Venture Partners and Powershift Ventures. Iconixx had raised capital in 1999 and 2001 from Thayer Capital Partners.

BSG Alliance, the on-demand platform for next generation enterprises, today announces the acquisition of Iconixx Corporation. Iconixx is a leading provider of on-demand solutions for global talent management in large and mid-sized enterprises.

With the people, on-demand applications and customer base of Iconixx, the company has significantly increased the scope and size of Agile TalentSM – one of several offerings in its subscription-based, on-demand portfolio.

“We are delighted to bring Iconixx onto our platform,” said Steve Papermaster, CEO of BSG Alliance Corp. “Through our work with dozens of Global 2000 companies, we see a clear and pressing need for innovative approaches to acquiring and retaining the very best people in today's hyper-competitive world.  CEOs and Chief HR leaders consistently cite their need to win the 'talent wars' in order to maintain and enhance their workforces – one of their most important assets. Bringing Iconixx into BSG Alliance greatly accelerates our ability to power our customers' transformation into Next Generation Enterprises.”

“We are excited about the opportunity to raise the bar in the industry for on-demand, Agile Talent solutions and applications,” said Derrik Deyhimi, chairman of Iconixx Corporation.  “In our experience, BSG Alliance's platform approach to transforming companies into next generation enterprises is exactly where the industry is headed.  All signs point to the solutions of the future being delivered in a software-as-a-services model that are vertically integrated with the company's talent strategy.”

The demand for talent management solutions has surged since 2005, according to analyst firm Kennedy Information, and grew to nearly $20 billion in 2007.  A January 15, 2008 Wall Street Journal article (“Demand Rises for Talent Management Software”) identifies one of many issues that shine a spotlight on the looming talent crisis:  a labor shortage in industries across the board caused by the aging of the Baby Boomer generation and a decline in worker satisfaction. Faced with this and other challenges, companies are investing more in managing their talent than ever before.
