Candover has teamed up with Andrew and Jack Morris, owners and developers of the Business Design Centre in London, to undertake a GBP183 million buy-in of Earls Court & Olympia, a leading UK exhibition venue.
The Earls Court & Olympia exhibition centres have earned a reputation for innovative events from early in their existence. In 1891, Olympia was transformed into a vision of Venice complete with a specially built canal, while the Wild West Show featuring Buffalo Bill is one of the most memorable events to have been held in London. Today, the venues are best known for hosting flagship exhibitions such as The Motor Show, The Boat Show and the Ideal Home Show, as well as playing host to major pop and opera events.
The UK exhibitions market continues to see strong growth. Plans for the business are to undertake a multi-million pound improvement programme, with an increased focus on venue management and event organising.
