Gilde Partners Cedar Fund To Support NetReality

The Gilde IT fund invested $1 million in Tel Aviv-based NetReality as part of a $3 million (ecu 2.7 million) funding round led by Gilde’s Israeli partner, Cedar Fund. The investors hold a minority stake in NetReality, which was founded last April by a team of experienced networking specialists from Bay Networks, 3Com and Lannet.

The company has developed the first dynamic traffic management platform solution for wide area networks (WANs). The WiseWan system comprises the hardware platform WiseWan 200; WanXplorer, a Java-based management console; WanShaper, an adaptive traffic shaper; and WanSentry, a real-time monitor.

The combination of remote monitoring and adaptive bandwidth management in a single modular platform allows users to set priorities and actively address congestion across their WANs.

The addition to this platform of WanTel, due to ship in July, will add voice monitoring capacity, enabling NetReality to offer the first Quality of Service solution for management of integrated voice and data traffic.

NetReality has established a Santa Clara office, and WiseWan was launched in the US market earlier this year. The capital from Cedar Fund and the Gilde IT fund will support the development of further distribution channels in the US and the roll-out of NetReality’s products into the European market.

Gilde Investment Management invested in Cedar Fund last year through its Gilde Strategic Situations Fund. Other investors in the Cedar Fund include Goldman Sachs Asset Management and the Israel Discount Bank.
