Madison Capital’s Schifer jumps to Twin Brook

Tim Schifer, a longtime Madison Capital Funding employee, has left the firm and will be joining Twin Brook Capital Partners, three sources said.

Schifer oversaw parts of Madison Capital’s loan portfolio, a source said. He was a director in Madison’s underwriting and portfolio-management group, person said. Schifer’s bio is no longer available on the Madison Capital website.

“Effective July 17, 2017, Tim Schifer is no longer with Madison Capital Funding,” an emailed response to an inquiry with Schifer said.

Schifer joined Madison Capital in 2003. He served in a variety of roles at Madison Capital, including underwriting deal team leader, new business and sponsor client relationship manager, and a senior portfolio manager, his bio had said.

Madison Capital, Chicago, is a leading middle-market lender. The firm had $8 billion in assets under management as of March 31 and $25.7 billion in net funded commitments.

Schifer will be joining Twin Brook, the middle-market direct-lending group of Angelo, Gordon & Co, later this month, the people said.

He will be a managing director at Twin Brook with a focus on underwriting and portfolio management, one of the sources said. Chris Williams and Trevor Clark together launched the much smaller Twin Brook in 2015. Williams and Clark also helped start Madison Capital in 1999.

Several Madison Capital employees have jumped to Twin Brook. In June 2016, Christopher Martin and Pete Notter were named Twin Brook managing directors. Martin and Nott were previously directors at Madison Capital. Faraaz Kamran, formerly head of Madison Capital’s leverage finance team, also joined Twin Brook as a partner in January 2016.

Executives for Madison Capital declined comment.
