PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS

Advent International hired Raul Alvarez as an operating partner. Alvarez is a former president and chief operating officer at McDonald’s.

BioScience Managers Ltd, the Melbourne, Australia, healthcare investment firm, appointed Michael Perry as a director, Dennis Purcell as a director and senior expert adviser and Nicole Vitullo as an independent director. Perry was senior vice president and chief scientific officer (business development and licensing) for Novartis while Purcell is a founder and former senior managing partner of Aisling Capital. Vitullo is a partner at life-sciences venture firm Domain Associates.

Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec: Ivanhoe Cambridge, the real estate investment arm of Canada’s second-biggest public pension fund, appointed Chanakya Chakravarti to head its Indian operations.

Carlyle Group: Effective Jan. 1, Kewsong Lee and Glenn A. Youngkin become co-CEOs while Peter J. Clare was named co-chief investment officer alongside current CIO William E. Conway JrDaniel A. D’Aniello, Carlyle’s current chairman, will become chairman emeritus and continue to serve on the board and in the executive group. David M. Rubenstein and Conway, current co-CEOs, will become co-executive chairmen and continue to serve in the executive group.

Comvest Partners named Al Wood a partner and head of aviation finance. Wood is a former president and CEO of 321 Aviation Group and an ex-operating partner at Sagewind Capital.

Cowen Healthcare Investments named Kevin Raidy a managing partner. Raidy was head of investment banking at Cowen.

Equistone Partners Europe named Sebastien Leusch an investment director for its Manchester, England, office. Leusch previously worked at Montagu Private Equity.

General Atlantic: Pamela Fang joined the firm as a managing director. She will lead the capital partnering effort in Asia and will be based in Hong Kong. Fang previously was a director and head of the investor development group in Asia at Actis.

Halifax Group named Allie Atwood, David Calder and Davis Hostetter vice presidents. Atwood and Calder will be based in the Washington office while Hostetter will be in Dallas.

LightBay Capital, the Los Angeles middle-market firm, named David Burcham a principal. Burcham was a managing director at Levine Leichtman Capital Partners.

Main Street Capital appointed Valerie L. Banner to the board. Banner is vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Exterran Corp.

Matrix Wealth Partners rebranded to Matrix Private Capital Group. The asset-management firm also hired three new managing directors: Thomas Deutsch, Monte Resnick and Lance Bryan, based in, respectively, the New York, Palm Beach, Florida, and Los Angeles offices. Richard S. Fuld Jr, former chairman and CEO of Lehman Brothers, leads Matrix Private Capital Group.

Maven Capital PartnersAlex Marsh joined as an investment manager. Marsh was previously with Northstar Ventures.

Oak Hill Capital Partners: Michael Glenn joined as a senior adviser and operating consultant. Glenn is former president and CEO of FedEx Corporate Services.

Perella Weinberg Partners Agility named Amita Schultes a managing director. Schultes previously was a partner, managing director and senior consultant at Colonial Consulting.

Vista Equity Partners hired Burke Norton as co-head and principal of Vista Perennial Investing and Greg Myers as global head of investor relations. Norton is former executive vice president, general counsel and a member of the chairman’s office at Expedia. Myers is a former partner and senior managing director at Eton Park Capital Management.

PORTFOLIO COMPANIES

Aberdeen Group, backed by Halyard Capital, named Marc Osofsky CEO and a member of the board of managers. Gary Skidmore becomes chairman of Aberdeen. Osofsky had been chief operating officer of all SaaS and BPaaS businesses for Lionbridge Technologies. Aberdeen is the Waltham, Massachusetts, provider of customer-engagement solutions.

Apttus, the San Mateo, California, quote-to-cash solution provider, named Sue Bostrom and Tim Cabral to the board. Bostrom is former executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Cisco Systems while Cabral is chief financial officer at Veeva Systems. Apttus’s backers include K1, Iconiq, Premji Invest and KIA.

Cold Carriers, a provider of temperature-controlled-transport services, named Randy Savoy chief operating officer. Savoy previously ran Swift Transportation‘s temperature-controlled division. Cold Carriers is backed by KJM Capital.

G5, the Bend, Oregon, marketing company for the property-management sector, appointed David Roussain chief marketing officer. Roussain was CMO at HighQ. G5 is backed by PeakEquity Partners.

Goji, the Boston personal-lines-insurance platform, named Peter Breitstone CEO. Breitstone’s background includes senior leadership roles at such companies as Insureon and Aon. Goji’s backers include Thayer Street Partners, Coffin Capital & Ventures and Five Elms Capital.

Great Lakes Management Services Organization, a practice management services organization that has partnered with Grand Rapids Ophthalmology, appointed John P. Hart chief financial officer. He previously was senior vice president, CFO and treasurer at National Surgical Healthcare. Great Lakes MSO was formed by Sterling Equity.

NCI Inc, the Reston, Virginia, provider of enterprise solutions and services for U.S. defense, intelligence, health and civilian government agencies, named James D. Collier executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer. Collier previously was senior vice president of corporate planning and analysis at Leidos. NCI is backed by H.I.G. Capital.

NetSPI, the Minnesota provider of enterprise security testing and vulnerability correlation software, named Aaron Shilts president and chief operating officer. Shilts had led worldwide services for Optiv and FishNet Security. NetSPI is backed by Sunstone Partners.

Simmons Research, a provider of consumer intelligence, named Andrew Feigenson CEO. Feigenson had been chief revenue officer at Nielsen Catalina Solutions. Simmons is backed by Symphony Technology Group.

Think Project! backed by TA Associates, named Peter Prestele to the board. Prestele is a former general manager and European head for a number of companies, including Mercury, IBM and HP. Think Project! is a German SaaS company for collaboration in construction and engineering.

United PF Partners, the largest Planet Fitness franchisee, appointed Shelli Taylor chief operating officer. Taylor previously was senior vice president of Starbucks Coffee China. United PF is backed by JLM Financial Partners and Eagle Merchant Partners.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

ACT Capital Advisors, an M&A and corporate finance firm, named Gary Gessel a managing director. Gessel was president and chief operations officer of Milgard Windows.

AlixPartners, a global consulting firm, named Jerry Wolfe a senior adviser to its digital practice. Wolfe is founder and CEO of Vivanda, a food-tech company.

Balmoral Advisors named Stan Koss a managing director in its Chicago office. Koss co-founded TTK Partners, the Chicago middle-market M&A firm.

Cambridge Bancorp: The Cambridge Trust Co subsidiary appointed David Lynch chief investment officer and Damon Barglow senior portfolio manager. Lynch previously was managing partner and deputy chief investment officer at Athena Capital. Barglow was a portfolio manager at Rockland Trust.

Ladenburg Thalmann Financial Services: The Ladenburg Thalmann & Co subsidiary appointed Lionel Leventhal managing director of investment banking. Leventhal had worked at Royalty/Revenue Interest Capital Advisors.

Medallion Financial, a specialty finance company, named Allan Tanenbaum an independent director. Tanenbaum is of counsel at the Atlanta law firm Taylor English. Tanenbaum is a co-founder, managing partner and general counsel of Equicorp Partners.

Neuberger Berman Breton Hill of Toronto named Ram Ramaswamy managing director and head of investment solutions. He previously worked in the alternative investments and manager selection group at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

Raymond James hired Brian Boyle as a managing director for its consumer investment banking practice. Boyle previously co-led the consumer markets investment banking practice at PwC Corporate Finance.

ROTH Capital Partners named Murray Huneke a managing director and co-head of consumer investment banking. Huneke previously was managing director and co-head of consumer investment banking at Stifel.

SeaWorld Entertainment, a theme park and entertainment company, named Scott Ross to the board and revenue committee. Ross is founder and managing partner of Hill Path Capital LP. He previously was a partner at Apollo Global Management.

Singular Medical Technologies, the Winter Haven, Florida, provider of picture archiving communications systems for hospitals, imaging centers, radiology, teleradiology and cardiology groups, named John Adair and Richard A. Brown Jr to the board. Adair is a former head of equities for Nomura while Brown is a managing director at MKM Partners.

PROMOTIONS

Edison Partners promoted Lenard Marcus to general partner. Marcus joined the growth equity firm in 2005 and was promoted to partner in 2014.

Pritzker Group Private Capital promoted Chris Trick to principal from vice president.

Starwood Energy promoted Himanshu Saxena to CEO. Saxena, who has been with Starwood Energy for 10 years, was named co-head of the business in 2015.

H.I.G. Capital: WhiteHorse Capital, the direct lending affiliate, promoted Gina Provenzale, Jeff Wells and John Yeager to managing director. Provenzale is based in the Stamford office, Wells is in Dallas and Yeager is in Chicago.
