On the move, 4.2.2018 – Partners Group names new chairman

PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS

ASGARD Partners named Jeff Eichel a principal in its advisory group and Christopher Machen head of its new Boston office. Eichel’s background includes serving as a manager at Ernst & Young. Machen was director of corporate development and strategy at GCP Applied Technologies.

Blackstone Insurance Solutions named Michael McRaith a managing director. McRaith was director of the U.S. Treasury Department’s Federal Insurance Office in the Barack Obama administration.

Cambridge Associates, the Boston investment firm, hired Elizabeth Ramos as managing director and head of human capital. Ramos previously was senior vice president of human capital at Fidelity Private Equity.

Andy Hurd joined Cressey & Co as an operating partner. Hurd most recently served as CEO of MedeAnalytics.

Cynosure Group of Salt Lake City appointed David Hunter a managing director and head of investor relations. Hunter had worked at Partners Group.

Duke Street, the London mid-market private equity firm, named Tom Salmon a partner and Hugo Strachan an investment manager. Salmon was a partner at 3i while Strachan worked at RJD Partners.

OpenGate CapitalRob Young joined as a principal. He was previously a vice president with Marlin Equity Partners.

ORIX Capital Partners appointed Scott Phillips director of operations. Phillips previously was a senior manager at TE Connectivity.

Partners Group: Steffen Meister will succeed Peter Wuffli as chairman. Wuffli will be named vice chairman. The board will propose the change at the annual meeting May 9.

Periscope EquityAlex Friedman joined as vice president and will lead the firm’s business-development effort. Friedman was previously at Ardenton Capital.

Shorehill Capital added Charlie Denison as a principal to its investment team. Denison previously was a project leader within the corporate development practice at Boston Consulting Group.

PORTFOLIO COMPANIES

Acuity Eyecare Group, a portfolio company of Riata Capital Group, appointed Eric Anderson CEO. He was executive vice president at Fossil Group. Acuity owns and operators eye-care groups and optometry practices in North America.

ArbiterSports, the Sandy, Utah, provider of athletic-event management solutions to school departments and sports leagues, named Jeff Moore chief revenue officer and John Hopkins chief financial officer. Moore previously was vice president of sales for Rocky Mountain West at Renaissance Learning while Hopkins was CFO of Zions Bancorp’s net deposit unit and an owner/operator of two McDonald’s restaurant franchises. ArbiterSports is backed by Serent Capital.

Braingrid, the Toronto data platform for cannabis growers, named Douglas Harris chief financial officer. Harris’s background includes more than 25 years as an executive and a director in corporate finance, PE investing, business valuation and financial operations. Braingrid’s backers include Quinsam Capital.

Brammer Bio, owned by Ampersand Capital Partners, named Doug Chambers vice president, quality and regulatory. Chambers held quality and compliance leadership roles at Millipore Sigma and Merck Research Laboratories. Brammer also hired Dana Alexander as site head for its late-phase and commercial viral vector manufacturing site in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Larry Pitcher as site head for its early-clinical development and viral vector manufacturing facilities in Alachua, Florida. Brammer is a viral vector contract development and manufacturing organization for companies developing gene-modified cell therapies and in vivo gene therapies.

Citra Health Solutions, a portfolio company of Great Point Partners, named Scott Sanner CEO. Sanner’s background including senior positions at Change Healthcare. Based in Jacksonville, Florida, Citra provides benefit administration technology solutions and care management services.

HEPACO, a portfolio company of Gryphon Investors, named Kenneth L. Smith CEO. Smith held senior leadership roles at Fluor Corp. HEPACO provides environmental and emergency response services.

Paya, a portfolio company of GTCR, named Mike Vaughn chief operating officer. He had been vice president of operations for Total Merchant Services. Paya is the Reston, Virginia, provider of integrated payment processing and business solutions.

PDC Brands, a provider of beauty and personal care products, appointed John F. Owen chief financial officer. Owen previously was CFO of Beam Suntory. PDC Brands is backed by CVC Capital Partners and Leonard Green & Partners.

STX Entertainment, a next-generation media company, named Patricia Röckenwagner chief brand officer. Prior to joining STX, Röckenwagner was senior adviser at Advance Vixeid Partners, the investment arm of Advance Publications and Condé Nast. STX’s backers include TPG, Hony Capital, Tencent Holdings and DNS Capital.

Tilray Inc, the Canadian medical cannabis startup, named Mark Castaneda chief financial officer. Castaneda previously led IPOs for companies including Primo Water Corp, Pike Electric Inc and Blue Rhino Corp. Tilray is a portfolio company of Privateer Holdings, the Seattle private equity firm focused on the legal cannabis sector.

Tri-TexRichard Hooper was named CEO. Hooper most recently served as CEO of SummitReheis. Hooper succeeds Natalie Laham, who remains a director and is a minority shareholder. Tri-Tex is a portfolio company of SK Capital.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

Davis Polk added Michael S. Hong as a partner in the law firm’s investment-management group. Hong will focus on PE-fund formation. Hong previously was a partner in the private funds group at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.

Dechert: Timothy M. Clark rejoined the law firm as a partner in the New York office focusing on investment funds and secondary deals. Clark previously was a partner at O’Melveny & Myers.

Drake Star Partners, a technology, media and communications-focused investment bank, named Michael Metzger a partner in the Los Angeles office. Metzger previously was a senior investment banker in Houlihan Lokey’s TMT group.

Institutional Limited Partners Association, a Toronto and Washington-based organization focused on promoting the interests of LPs, appointed Steven Nelson CEO. Nelson is a former COO at Cambridge Associates.

LMCG Investments appointed Christopher Premock managing director and head of global institutional sales and marketing. Premock was of head of institutional sales and consultant relations at Frontier Capital Management.

Maitland, a global advisory and fund administration firm, named Frank Ferrara senior client-service manager. Ferrara previously worked at Rhone Group.

OurCrowd, the Jerusalem global equity crowdfunding platform, opened an office in London. Lina White, a former Goldman Sachs banker who is OurCrowd’s new director of investor relations, will lead the U.K. operations.

Perkins Coie named Elizabeth Kemery Sipes a partner at the law firm, focusing on private investment funds. She previously was a partner at Bryan Cave.

Prudential Financial IncPGIM, Prudential’s investment management business, named Howard Nowell managing director of the institutional-relationship group in London. Nowell was most recently a managing director with BlackRock’s institutional client business in the U.K.

Proskauer added Richard Bull as a partner to the law firm’s M&A and private equity practice. Bull will be based in London.

Qualcomm, the San Diego producer of wireless telecommunications products and services, named Jeffrey W. Henderson non-executive chairman. Paul E. Jacobs will no longer serve as executive chairman as the board discontinued the role. Jacobs remains a director. Henderson currently is an advisory director to Berkshire Partners.

Raymond James named Amar Krishnamurti a managing director in the technology and services investment banking practice. He previously was a senior member of Jefferies LLC’s technology investment banking practice focused on advisory and capital raising services for middle-market companies.

Riviera Partners, the San Francisco executive-search firm for engineering, product and design leadership, named Will Hunsinger CEO. He previously was digital practice operating director for TPG Growth.

Russell Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, an Atlanta community with lab-to-market resources for emerging industries, named James Bailey president and CEO. Bailey is a founder of Greenwood Archer, a PE firm focused on investing in emerging domestic markets, urbanization and affordable housing.

Triago, a private equity fund adviser, named Kevin Rogers a principal. Rogers previously worked at Portfolio Advisors.

U.S. Capital Advisors named Jarett Kovics a senior managing director and head of business development. Kovics previously was Western divisional director at Robert Baird & Co‘s private wealth management business.

LIMITED PARTNERS

Carleton College named Kelsey Deshler chief investment officer. Deshler was global head of manager research at BlackRock.

PROMOTIONS

Insignia Capital Group promoted Pradyut Shah to managing director, Julian Hinderling to principal and Nick DeTrempe to vice president.

Littlejohn & Co promoted Gentry Klein and Brian Michaud to managing director. Both joined the Greenwich, Connecticut, investment firm in 2007.
