On the move, 5.28.2018 – Blackstone adds a knight to its board

PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS

Behrman Capital named Vincent M. Buffa an operating partner. Buffa previously was president and CEO of Data Device Corp.

Blackstone named Sir John Hood to the board. Hood is chair of Rhodes Trust and president and CEO of Robertson Foundation.

Bowmark Capital hired Tom Keen as an investment manager. Prior to joining Bowmark, Keen worked at Lyceum Capital.

Carlyle Group hired Hongjiang Zhang as a senior adviser to its Asian private equity platform. Zhang is a former CEO of Kingsoft.

Cimbria Capital: Daniel Ringdahl joined as an operating partner. Ringdahl is currently president and CEO of Florida Drilling.

Dominus Capital hired Scott Moore as an operating partner. Moore previously was majority owner of Nevco Inc.

GCM Grosvenor hired Jorge Ramirez as a managing director. Ramirez will lead labor strategies for GCM Grosvenor’s labor impact infrastructure business. Ramirez is former president of the Chicago Federation of Labor and the former vice president and member of the AFL-CIO‘s executive council.

Genstar Capital named John Hubbard to its strategic advisory board. Recently, Hubbard was president and CEO of Bioclinica Inc.

J.F. Lehman & Co named David M. Ashcraft a managing director of portfolio operations and Michael W. Cueter a senior associate. Ashcraft had worked at Cerberus Operations and Advisory Co while Cueter was at Olympus Partners.

Jeneration Capital Management: Jason Tan, formerly a global partner at investment firm Tiger Global Management, joined the Hong Kong fund as partner and chief investment officer.

LLR Partners named Cary Burch a senior operating adviser. Burch had been chief innovation officer at Thomson Reuters. Burch also was CEO and COO at Thomson Reuters Elite, the company’s legal enterprise software company.

Point72 Asset Management appointed Rachel D’Antonio chief administrative officer.  D’Antonio had been a vice president managing various middle-office product teams at JP Morgan.

QIC named Brian Delaney senior managing director of U.S. and David Asplin chief operating officer of global real estate.

Silver Lake hired A.J. MurphyBank of America’s capital markets head, as a managing director. Murphy will have a broad senior investment mandate, sourcing and structuring deals as well as advising portfolio companies. Murphy has worked at a series of bulge-bracket banks, including Goldman SachsJP MorganDeutsche Bank and Bear Stearns. Murphy will start at Silver Lake over the summer, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Twin Bridge Capital PartnersZach Schneider joined as a principal. Schneider was previously an assistant vice president at Antares Capital.

Warren Equity Partners named Dan Strong director of operations. Strong previously was VP operations at Platinum Equity.

Z Capital appointed Bonnie Wang a managing director and head of corporate development. Wang is a former managing director and portfolio manager at JP Morgan.

PORTFOLIO COMPANIES

Apervita, a healthcare-focused platform-as-a-service company, named James P. Bradley chairman and an independent director. Bradley is chief information officer of UnitedHealthCare and chief technology strategy officer at McKesson Corp. Apervita is a portfolio company of Baird Capital.

CFGI, the Carlyle Group-backed provider of accounting and financial advisory services to the office of the CFO, hired Sean Turner as a partner to run the new Washington office. Carlyle invested in CFGI in March 2018. Turner worked for 14 years at MorganFranklin Consulting, until he left in 2015.

Cherwell Software, backed by KKR, named Dave Welsh and John Spiliotis to its board of managers. Welsh is KKR’s head of TMT growth equity and Spiliotis recently was a senior vice president at Palo Alto Networks. Cherwell provides enterprise service management solutions.

Liqui-Box, a portfolio company of Olympus Partners, named Andrew McLeland chief operating officer. Liqui-Box is a provider of flexible liquid packaging solutions.

NueHealth, the Leawood, Kansas, surgical healthcare network, named Carl King CEO. King had been a senior vice president at Aetna. NueHealth is backed by Nueterra Capital.

PDC Logic, the Norman, Oklahoma, maker of matrix poly diamond crystalline bits and roller-cone bits used in drilling and completion operations, named Steve Allen to the board. Allen spent 40 years at Halliburton where he built the firm’s drill bits and services division. PDC Logic is a portfolio company of Intervale Capital.

SG360°, backed by ICV Partners, appointed Patrick R. Donahoe to the board. Donahoe is the ex-CEO and postmaster general of the U.S. Based in Wheeling, Illinois, SG360° is a print and direct marketing solutions provider.

Washing SystemsCraig Nikrant was named CEO. Nikrant succeeds Terry Shoreman, who is retiring. Washing Systems is a portfolio company of Gryphon Investors. Nikrant is former president of PolyOne’s specialty engineered materials business.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

Baird named Eric Winn a managing director on its global technology and services team. Winn previously was a managing director and the head of internet and enabling software investment banking at KeyBanc Capital Markets.

CitigroupRahul Singla joined as a managing director in the financial technology and information services group. Singla will report to Rick Diamond, global head of Citi’s fintech and information services investment banking group. Singla was previously a managing director and head of fintech investment banking, Americas IBC, with Deutsche Bank.

Evercore named Gregory Berube a senior managing director in its restructuring and debt advisory group. Berube previously was a managing director and head of Americas restructuring finance and advisory at Goldman Sachs.

Finova FinancialJeremy GardnerDavid Namdar, and Vishal Gurbuxani joined as investors and advisers. Finova, a digital financial services provider, has raised $100 million in capital.

Goodwin named Bosco Yiu a partner in the law firm’s PE practice. Yiu’s background includes representing PE firms, investment banks and public and private companies in connection with M&A, joint ventures and IPOs on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Honigman named Harris R. Eisenberg as a partner in the law firm’s corporate department and PE practice. He previously concentrated on PE and M&A at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP.

Jefferies hired Peter Scheman as a managing director and joint head of Americas industrial investment banking. Scheman previously was U.S. head of building products and equipment and construction coverage at Goldman Sachs.

Kirkland & EllisRanesh Ramanathan joined the law firm as a corporate partner in the Boston office. Ramanathan will focus on debt finance, distressed/special situations, alternative investments and credit fund transactions. He previously worked at Bain Capital. 

Pryor Cashman named Michael Weinsier as a partner and co-head of the law firm’s PE practice. He previously worked at Troutman Sanders.

Rothschild & Co Group: The Rothschild Global Advisory division hired Sumner Farren and Sara Coyle as managing directors in its Chicago office. Farren had been a managing director responsible for sellside M&A activities in North America at UBS. Coyle was also at UBS, a managing director of the global industrials group in charge of industrial distribution and packaging coverage efforts.

PROMOTIONS

Argand Partners promoted Joseph Del Toro to partner. Del Toro is a former CFO at Novitex Enterprise Solutions, Undertone and Topps Co.

Bowmark Capital, a mid-market private equity firm, promoted Julian Masters to managing partner and Luca Mastrodonato to business-development director. Masters first joined Bowmark in 2008 while Mastrodonato came on board in 2011.
