PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS

Actis named Ellen Li managing director and head of Asia of the investor development group. Li previously was director of institutional sales at Franklin Templeton Investment in Asia.

Artemid: Cédric Lalain joined as a partner. Lalain was previously head of fixed income at Assurances Crédit Mutuel. Artremid is a subsidiary of Capzanine and Amiral Gestion.

Atlas Holdings, the Greenwich, Connecticut, private investment firm, promoted nine staffers. Among them are Jacob Hudson to managing partner, Michael Sher and Jason Squire to partner and Cheri Reeve and Michael O’Donnell to principal.

Ballast Asset Management named George Northrop director of marketing and client service. Northrop previously was director of marketing at Montag & Caldwell.

CapStreet Group, the Houston middle-market PE firm, named Michelle Lewis a principal. Lewis had been chief strategy officer at DistributionNOW.

Carlyle GroupJohn Adam Kanas was named a senior adviser consultant and vice chairman of Carlyle Global Financial Services Partners. Kanas is chairman of BankUnited. Carlyle also hired Christa Zipf as vice president of communications for the Americas. She previously was vice president of corporate communications and marketing at Arconic.

Commonfund, the Wilton, Connecticut, asset manager for endowments, foundations and public-pension investors, named Mark Anson president and CEO. He succeeds Catherine Keating, who is taking a senior position at BNY Mellon. Anson retains the posts of chief investment officer and of chairman at Commonfund Capital Inc and Commonfund Asset.

GCM Grosvenor named Matthew Rinklin managing director. Rinklin previously worked at Oaktree Capital Management.

General AtlanticMark Garrett joined as a special adviser. Garrett is executive vice president and CFO of Adobe Systems.

H.I.G. Capital named Susan Gentile as chief financial and administrative officer for global operations. Prior to joining H.I.G., Gentile was chief accounting officer and a managing director at Oaktree Capital Group.

Lovell Minnick Partners: Joan Binstock joined as a senior adviser. Binstock spent most of her career at Lord, Abbett & Co, serving over nearly two decades as partner, chief operations officer, CFO and chair of the audit committee.

ParkerGale CapitalEleanor “Nori” Welles-Gertz joined the firm as an associate. Welles-Gertz previously worked in management consulting as an associate at Treacy & Co.

Petrichor Healthcare Capital Management, a healthcare investment firm, appointed Sir Bruce Keogh to its advisory board. Keogh’s background includes serving as medical director of National Health Service England.

Pine Brook named Emily Sharko chief operating officer.  Sharko most recently was chief administrative officer of the tactical opportunities group at Blackstone.

Safanad named Andrew Trickett a partner, member of the management committee and head of the real estate investment business. He most recently was a senior managing director of investments at Oxford Properties Group, the real estate investment arm of OMERS.

Starwood Capital named Federico Bianchi head of asset management for Europe. Bianchi had been a principal in asset management at GreenOak Real Estate.

Sweetwater Capital Partners hired Gregg Parise as a managing partner. He is a former CEO of Events.com, a SaaS software startup.

Trinity Investments, the Honolulu private real estate investment firm, added Steve Haggerty to its executive leadership. Haggerty previously was global head of capital strategy, franchising and select service at Hyatt Hotels.

Vista Equity Partners named Read Simmons president of Vista Consulting Group, the private equity firm’s consulting organization. Simmons previously was a partner, most recently a director of the private equity practice, at Bain & Co.

Water Street Healthcare Partners and JLL Partners named Mark Thierer chairman and Jim Lang CEO of their life-sciences-services platform. Thierer is former CEO of OptumR while Lang was CEO of Decision Resources Group.

PORTFOLIO COMPANIES

Cologix, the Denver data center and interconnection solutions provider, appointed Bill Fathers chairman and CEO. Fathers succeeds Grant van Rooyen. Fathers previously was executive vice president of cloud services at VMware. Cologix is backed by Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners.

FLS Transportation Services, a third-party logistics firm, hired John Leach as CEO. Leach previously was chief commercial officer at Coyote Logistics. FLS is backed by Abry Partners.

HighRadius, the Houston provider of cloud-based integrated receivables software, named Jim Bork chief revenue officer. Bork had been vice president of sales at NetSuite and senior vice president of worldwide sales at Epicor. HighRadius is backed by Susquehanna Growth Equity.

Waldhaus Flims Alpine Grand Hotel & Spa, which provides skiing and snowboarding, golf course, hiking and mountain biking trails for guests, hired Burkhard Wolter as general manager. he had been general manager of Oberoi Beach Resort, Al Zorah in Anjman, UAE. Waldhaus Flims is backed by Z Capital.

ZeroChaos, a Carlyle Group portfolio company, appointed Jim Burke CEO. Gordon Coburn, ZeroChaos’s executive chairman and acting CEO, will serve as chairman, continuing as a strategic adviser. Burke most recently was CEO of Advanced Discovery.

ZP Group, the McLean, Virginia, provider of cybersecurity services and solutions, added Bob Craig and Larry Pfeiffer to the board. Craig is founder and CEO of Centerman Capital while Pfeiffer is a senior adviser to Chertoff Group, which backs ZP Group.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

ForgeRockFrancis (Fran) C. Rosch was named CEO. Rosch was previously executive vice president at Symantec. Interim CEO John Fernandez returns to his full-time role as CFO and EVP of global operations.

Institutional Limited Partners Association: The 2018 board includes three new and three restanding members. The new members include Anne FossemalleEuropean Bank for Reconstruction and Development; John HersheyOregon State Treasury; and Kevin McDowellAlberta Teachers’ Retirement Fund. JEGI made two changes to the investment bank/adviser’s leadership team: Adam Gross, chief marketing officer, became a managing director, while David Clark, who joined as a managing director in 2005, is now chief marketing officer.

Morgan Lewis named Jeff S. Dinerstein a partner at the law firm. His background includes advising clients on M&A deals and representing private equity funds and their portfolio companies. Dinerstein is based in the Houston office.

MX, the Lehi, Utah, financial-data provider, named Ben Holzman chief operating officer. Holzman is a former managing director at Bain Capital Ventures.

Optima Partners, a regulatory-compliance advisory firm, named Alan K. Halfenger a partner. Halfenger is a former chief compliance officer at Bain Capital.

Orrick named Sarah Zeng a partner in the law firm’s global M&A and PE practice. She previously was a managing partner at Denton’s Beijing office.

Outcome Capital named Tom Peltier a managing director. Peltier joins from Stifel Nicolaus, where he founded and led the aerospace, defense and government services investment banking group.

PROMOTIONS

Cambridge Associates promoted Christie Briscoe Zarkovich to head of mission-related investing research. She joined the firm in 2016 as a managing director.
