Advent International hired James Buzzard as an operating partner. Buzzard is the former president of MeadWestvaco.

Align Capital Partners: Joining ACP’s Cleveland office are Rick Costello, operating partner, Katie Noggle, director of business development, Matt Beesley, vice president, and Dustin Brode, associate. New hires in the Dallas office include Jonathan Vadiee and Kurt Smentek, associates, and Joey Delgado, executive assistant.

Altamar Capital Partners named Mónica Martínez managing director for its global client solutions team. Her background includes senior roles at JP Morgan Asset Management in London.

Altas Partners: Jack Hansen joined as a director. He was previously an associate at Berkshire Partners.

Grupo BTG Pactual SA Chairman Persio Arida stepped down for personal reasons, amid a management and board reshuffle at Latin America’s largest independent investment bank. Reuters reported, citing a securities filing. Arida, who became chairman in December 2015, will be succeeded by Roberto Kalim, currently co-chief executive. Roberto Sallouti becomes CEO, Reuters reported. In addition, Guillermo Ortiz, a former president of Mexico’s central bank, will join BTG Pactual’s board.

Eight Roads, the U.K. investment firm, tapped Laura Atterwill a talent partner. Atterwill previously was a financial-services consultant focused on PE at Spencer Stuart.

Finstar Financial Group named Mark Ruddock CEO of FinstarLabs, its corporate venture group. He joined FinstarLabs from Wonga, a credit provider, where he was responsible for overseeing the company’s businesses outside the U.K.

Frazier Healthcare Partners added four to its growth buyout team: Kent Berkley as vice president and Jeremy Janson, Neeraj Prathipati and Shyamal Swami as associates.

GAMCO Investors appointed Leslie B. Daniels to the board. Daniels is founding partner of CAI Managers & Co.

KKR: Timothy R. Franks joins the firm’s London office, effective Feb. 1. Franks will lead coverage of consumer and retail in Europe, Africa and the Middle East as a member of the private-equity team. Franks joins from Advent International,  where he was a partner, a European Investment Committee member and head of the European retail, consumer and leisure team.

Meketa Investment Group: Daniel Green joined the firm as a senior director and member of Meketa’s private markets group. Prior to joining Meketa, Green founded and directed Gorst Capital.

Oaktree Capital Group named Steven Gilbert to the board. Gilbert founded and is chairman of Gilbert Global Equity Partners.

Polaris Partners hired Brendan Hannigan as a venture partner, based in the firm’s Boston office. Hannigan previously was general manager at IBM Security.

RueOne Investments, the alternative-asset manager, appointed Robert Wages to the board. Wages, currently managing director of consultant Gazelle Capital Advisors, will serve on the board’s investment committee.

Värde Partners, the alternative-investment manager, named Aneek Mamik  head of North American specialty finance. Mamik, based in New York, previously held several senior executive roles at General Electric.

AccessData Group, backed by Sorenson Capital, named Victor Limongelli  CEO. He is the former CEO of Guidance Software. AccessData is the Lindon, Utah, provider of integrated digital forensics and e-discovery software.

Beaver-Visitec International, the Waltham, Massachusetts, provider of ophthalmic-surgery devices, appointed Dana G. Mead Jr. president and CEO. Mead is a former strategic adviser and partner in the life-sciences practice of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. BVI is backed by TPG Capital.

Bowdoin Group, the recruiting firm, named Scott Aldsworth chief revenue officer and partner. Aldsworth previously was a vice president of sales for Radius Worldwide. Bowdoin is owned by HgCapital.

DBi Services, the Hazleton, Pennsylvania, provider of transportation-infrastructure operations and maintenance, appointed Roger Zino CEO. Zino is former CEO of ValleyCrest Cos. DBi is backed by Sterling Partners.

Geritrex, a maker of over-the-counter drugs, named John Francis executive vice president of sales and marketing. Francis is a former vice president of OTC sales and marketing for North America for Taro Pharmaceutical. Geritrex is backed by BelHealth Investment Partners.

Kabbage, the Atlanta financial-services tech and data platform, named Amala Duggirala chief technology officer and Rama Rao chief data officer. Duggirala previously was executive vice president of global software development and implementations services at ACI Worldwide while Rao was head of analytics and insights at eBay’s global risk, policy and compliance organization. Kabbage’s backers include BlueRun Ventures, ING, Mohr Davidow Ventures, Reverence Capital, Santander InnoVentures, Scotiabank, SoftBank Capital, TCW/CratonThomvest Ventures and UPS Strategic Enterprise Fund.

Serenova, the Austin, Texas, contact-center-as-a-service provider, appointed Keith Geneva chief financial officer.  Geneva previously was group financial director for portfolio operations at Marlin Equity Partners.

Smashburger, the Denver restaurant chain, tapped Glenn M. Moon director of franchise sales. Moon previously worked at Choice International. Smashburger is backed by Consumer Capital Partners.

Sonatype, which helps companies improve their software supply chains, named Brian Fox chief technology officer. Fox is a member of Apache Software Foundation and former chair of the Apache Maven project. Sonatype is backed by Accel Partners, Bay Partners, Goldman Sachs, Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, Morgenthaler Ventures and New Enterprise Associates.

Telarix, owned by Vista Equity Partners, appointed Rich Marano chief operations officer and Dan Dooley chief revenue officer. Marano was executive vice president of iconectiv while Dooley most recently served as president and COO at TruMobility. Telarix, Vienna, Virginia, offers wholesale and partner solutions for communication service providers.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

Altegris, the investment-research firm, said Jack Rivkin, CEO and chief investment strategist, passed away Nov. 9. The cause was cancer. Executive Chairman Martin Beaulieu adds Rivkin’s posts. Rivkin joined Altegris in December 2013. His resume included tenures as chief investment officer and head of private asset management at Neuberger Berman and executive adviser with Aquiline Capital Partners.

Boston Consulting Group, the management consultant, hired Christy Carter and John Perkins as partners and managing directors for its principal investors and private equity practice. Carter had worked at CCMP Capital Advisors while Perkins was a managing director and head of the financial-sponsors practice at Houlihan Lokey.

CGCN Group, the advocacy and strategic communications firm, added Ken Spain to its strategic-communications unit. Spain is former vice president of public affairs and communications at the American Investment Council, formerly the Private Equity Growth Capital Council.

City Financial hired Lou Thorne as global chief operating officer. Thorne had served as managing director and global COO at Fortress Investment Group’s liquid-markets hedge-fund business.

FIRSTavenueJess Larsen joined as partner and head of Americas. Larsen was previously global head of institutional sales at Highland Capital Management.

Investec beefed up its fund-finance team with the London-office hires of Oliver Bartholomew, Alan Macdonald, Nick Rusling and Ian Weise.

Maitland named Jim Clark to lead its restructured institutional product offerings. The management team will reflect five fund-services products: traditional fund services, transfer agency, hedge-fund services, private equity and real estate fund services and ManCo services.

Matrix Capital Markets Group: Robbie L. Radant joined as a director in its downstream energy and retail group. Radant for 28 years was with 7-Eleven, most recently as vice president of M&A.

Mooreland Partners hired Cyrus Deboo as a managing director. Deboo previously was a managing director at Sonenshine Partners.

Williams Capital Group appointed Edward J. Tirello Jr to helm its corporate-finance unit’s strategic-advisory team. Tirello previously was a senior adviser in the investment banking group at Tudor, Pickering & Holt.

PROMOTIONS

Quantum Energy Partners promoted Dheeraj Verma to president. Verma joined the firm in 2008 and most recently served as a partner and managing director.

Sterling Partners promoted Kim Vender Moffat and Michael Drai to managing director from principal. Moffat joined in 1999 while Drai came on board in 2008.
