PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS

The Carlyle Group said Dan Cohn-Sfetcu has joined the firm as managing director. He will originate and execute middle-market credit investments for Carlyle GMS Finance Inc, a business development company, as well as its affiliated investment vehicle, NF Investment Corp. Carlyle GMS focuses on lending to U.S. middle-market companies. Cohn-Sfetcu was previously a managing director with American Capital.

CenterGate Capital said Lewis Schoenwetter has joined the team as a managing director in the firm’s Austin headquarters. Schoenwetter was previously a managing director at H.I.G. Capital.

ClearPoint Investment Partners has named Taimur Shaikh as principal and Joseph Velli as operating director. Previously, Shaikh worked at Trident Capital and Oak Hill Capital Partners while Velli most recently served as chairman and CEO of BNY Convergex Group LLC.

First Reserve has added Luke O’Keefe to its energy infrastructure team. Previously, O’Keefe worked at General Electric’s energy financial services business as vice president of technical risk.

Mainsail Partners has appointed Ron Will as chief financial officer and operating partner. Previously, Will was the CFO of BrightRoll, which was acquired by Yahoo last December.

New York Life Investment Management LLC, an asset management subsidiary of New York Life, has named Yie-Hsin Hung as CEO. Hung succeeds Drew Lawton, who is retiring at the end of the year. Previously, Hung was co-president of NYLIM.

Adam Persiani has joined Pharos Capital Group as director of business development. Persiani will be based in the firm’s Dallas office. Previously, he worked at Valesco Industries as a manager.

Point72 Asset Management, the family office of Steve Cohen, has named Rachel D’Antonio its treasurer. D’Antonio will continue to perform her current responsibilities as head of operations and will report to Tim Shaughnessy, Point72’s COO.

Investment manager PPM America Inc has appointed Mark Mandich as its new CEO, and Jim Young as company president. Previously, Mandich was chief operating officer at PPMA while Young was chief investment officer.

Safanad has appointed Craig Kahler as director of private equity. Previously, Kahler worked at BlueMountain Capital Management as the portfolio manager of private capital.

Tonka Bay Equity Partners LLC has added Kam Kielhorn as an investment associate. Kielhorn was previously a manager in the Transaction Advisory practice of Ernst & Young.

Altas Partners has added Kathleen Taylor to its advisory board. Taylor is chair of the board of RBC and a director of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.

Bridge Growth Partners LLC has added Fred H. Langhammer to its strategic advisory board. Langhammer is the chairman of global affairs for The Estee Lauder Companies.

Clinical Innovations has named Ken Reali president and CEO. Reali recently served as president and CEO of Baxano Surgical Inc. Clinical Innovations is backed by Pritzker Group Private Capital.

Crossmark, a portfolio company of Warburg Pincus, has added Duncan Mac Naughton to its board of directors. Mac Naughton is a former executive vice president and chief merchandising officer of Wal-Mart U.S. at Wal-Mart Stores. Based in Plano, Texas, Crossmark is a provider of sales and marketing services for the consumer goods sector.

Edgewood Partners Insurance Center, which is backed by The Carlyle Group and Stone Point Capital, has hired Myesha Lamison as director of benefits technology. Previously, Lamison worked at Zenefits as a benefits program manager. Based in San Francisco, Edgewood Partners provides retail property, casualty and employee benefits insurance.

Fender Musical Instruments Corp has named Andrew P. Mooney as CEO. Mooney joins Fender from Quiksilver Inc. Fender is backed by Servco Pacific Inc and TPG Growth.

FireMon, which is backed by Insight Venture Partners, has named James Lewandowski as president and chief operating officer. Recently, Lewandowski was CEO of FireHost. Based in Overland Park, Kansas, FireMon is a security intelligence solutions provider.

Invo HealthCare Associates, which is backed by Post Capital Partners, has appointed Anthony Manley as CEO. Previously, Manley worked at Catapult Learning as chief operating officer and executive vice president. Based in Jamison, Pennsylvania, Invo HealthCare Associates is a provider of outsourced special education and related services for children with developmental delays and disabilities.

Planview, a portfolio company of Insight Venture Partners, has hired Vic Chynoweth as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Previously Chynoweth worked at TPG-owned Vertafore Inc as vice president of finance and accounting. Based in Austin, Texas, Planview provides solutions for portfolio management and project collaboration.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

CLSA Americas, an affiliate of Hong Kong-based research and advisory firm CLSA, has named James Maughan and Robert Obrien as sales traders for its institutional equity unit. Previously, Maughan worked at Evercore-ISI as a managing director and senior sales trader, while Obrien was a managing director and head of the private shares group at Wedbush Securities.

Crosswinds Holdings Inc has named Susan McCormick as interim chief financial officer. McCormick’s background includes stints at CIBC, Credit Suisse and Yahoo! Canada.

Debt advisory firm Credo 180 Capital Partners, formerly known as DiBari Group, has named Chad Norman as managing partner. Most recently, Norman was a managing director in life sciences at Hercules Technology Growth Capital. 

Dow Schofield Watts has named Jacki Wells as a partner. Prior to joining DSW, Wells worked at Ernst & Young.

Learning platform EDUonGo has named Salim Dada as its chief financial officer. Dada is president of Washington-based investment banking firm Concord Ventures Inc.

Evercore has named Jeffrey B. Rosichan as a senior managing director for its equity capital markets group. Previously, Rosichan worked at Deutsche Bank as managing director and vice chairman of equity capital markets.

Evercore has named Lea Lazaric Calvert as a managing director for the firm’s private capital advisory business. Calvert’s appointment begins in July. Previously, Calvert worked at UBS as an executive director and a member of the company’s private funds group.

Evercore has hired Tom Stokes as a senior managing director for its technology banking group. Previously, Stokes worked at Goldman Sachs as a managing director in its investment banking division.

Hercules Technology Growth Capital Inc has hired Robert Lake as chief credit officer. Previously, Lake was executive director of Oxford Finance LLC.

Meketa Investment Group has named Molly LeStage as senior vice president in Boston. Prior to joining Meketa, LeStage worked at Hamilton Lane Advisors LLC and Shott Capital Management LLC as a director of private equity at both firms.

MidCap Financial has appointed John Rosin as managing director for its general industries asset based lending group. MidCap is a middle market-focused specialty finance company.

Next Capital Management has appointed Ryan Davis as director of research. Prior to joining Next Capital, Davis was a senior analyst at Fortigent.

Law firm Ropes & Gray LLP has appointed David G. Tittsworth as counsel in its investment management practice in Washington, D.C. Tittsworth is the former president and CEO of the Investment Adviser Association.

Gabriel Monzon-Cortarelli has joined law firm Seyfarth Shaw as a partner focusing on corporate finance and commercial transactions involving public and privately held U.S., European and Latin American companies. He also handles cross-border mergers, joint ventures and strategic alliances involving U.S., European and Latin American businesses. Monzon-Contarelli joined from Greenberg Traurig.

Twin Brook Capital Partners has beefed up its senior team with several hires. The firm, a lending subsidiary of Angelo, Gordon & Co, has tapped Richard Christensen, David Gibson, Drew Guyette, Grant Haggard, Evan Larsen and Jessica Nels to underwrite loans to private equity-backed middle-market companies.

Houston-based financial services firm U.S. Capital Advisors has added Haag Sherman to its board of directors. Currently, Sherman is the CEO of Tectonic Advisory and was formerly the CEO and CIO of Salient Partners LP.

Veolia, a provider of resource management solutions, has added Dr. Homaira Akbari to its board of directors. Akbari is president and CEO of AKnowledge Partners.

Law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati has named Dan Ouyang a partner in the firm’s corporate and securities practice. Ouyang was previously a partner at Paul Hastings.

PROMOTIONS

HealthCare Royalty Partners has promoted Paul Hadden to managing director and named Dr. Shin Kang as vice president. Hadden joined HCRP in 2007 as a senior associate. Kang was previously vice president of equity research at Wells Fargo Securities.

Zeus Capital has promoted Mike Allen to head of research. Allen joined the firm as a research director last year. He previously worked at Panmure Gordon, UBS and Numis Securities.
