On the move, 7.24.2017 – ILPA names interim CEO

PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS

Altegris Advisors, a provider of alternative investment strategies, hired Robert S. Naka as chief operating officer. Naka previously was COO at Salient Partners. Altegris is owned by Aquiline Capital Partners and Genstar Capital Management.

Comvest Partners hired Ashley Ciaburri Rainwater as a director of investor relations. Rainwater previously was director of marketing and investor relations at Kohlberg & Co.

General Atlantic named Yong Hak Huh a special adviser for the firm’s initiatives in Asia. Huh is founder of First Bridge Strategy Ltd and former chief investment officer of private markets and direct investment at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.

Genstar Capital named Ben Brigeman to its strategic advisory board. Brigeman is a former executive vice president for Charles Schwab, where headed its individual retail business.

KKR appointed Joseph Bae and Scott Nuttall as co-presidents and co-chief operating officers, setting them up as its future leaders.

Three Hills Capital Partners: Joining the investment firm are Joe Jefferies as an investment manager, Arjan Blok as a senior associate and Ravi Savjani as an investor-relations manager. Previously, Jefferies was at Montagu, Blok was at Vitruvian Partners and Savjani at Apax Partners.

U.S. Senate: The senators confirmed William Hagerty as President Donald Trump’s ambassador to Japan. Hagerty, founder of the private equity firm Hagerty Peterson, spent several years in Japan with Boston Consulting Group and later served in the White House under former President George H.W. Bush.

Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe rehired Christopher Hooper as a general partner. He will be a member of the firm’s tech team. Hooper previously joined WCAS in 2005, where he also worked on the tech team, before moving to Golden Gate Capital in 2011.

Z Capital Group named Benjamin Webster as a managing director in investor development. Webster most recently was director of the institutional client business at BlackRock.

PORTFOLIO COMPANIES

American Vision Partners, an ophthalmic management company, named Kyle A. Bohannon  president and CEO. Bohannon is former president and CEO of FastMed Urgent Care. AVP is backed by H.I.G. Capital.

Cloud X Partners, a portfolio company of Elm Equity Partners, tapped John Swiderski head of product. Swiderski is a former senior product manager at Amazon.

Commuter Air Technology, backed by AGC Aerospace and Defense, hired Greg Meacham as chief financial officer. His background includes senior leadership roles at SAIC, a U.S. subsidiary of WS Atkins and Benham Cos. Based in Oklahoma City, CAT is a provider of certified aircraft and customized aircraft modifications for commercial and government applications.

Rackspace, a portfolio company of Apollo Global Management, appointed Louis M. Alterman  executive vice president and chief financial officer. Alterman previously as CFO at EarthLink. Based in San Antonio, Texas, Rackspace is a managed cloud company.

SAI Global, a portfolio company of Baring Private Equity Asia, named Peter Granat global CEO. Granat is former CEO of Cision. SAI Global is a provider of integrated risk management solutions and Australian property services.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

Angle Advisors named Todd M. Firestone a managing director.  Firestone previously was a research analyst at Evercore Partners, covering the exploration and production sector.

DemystData, the New York data-software provider, named Gene Lockhart chairman. Lockhart is chairman and managing partner of MissionOG.

Eaton Partners, a placement-agent subsidiary of Stifel Financial, named Bill McLeod a managing director. McLeod previously, was a senior managing director in Stifel‘s equities group.

Goodwin hired Salil Gandhi as a partner for its technology-companies practice. Gandhi specializes in representing emerging growth companies as well as venture capital and private equity funds. He previously was of counsel in the corporate group at Gunderson Dettmer.

Institutional Limited Partners AssociationMike Mazzola was named interim CEO. Mazzola succeeds Peter Freire, who left ILPA in June. Mazzola recently retired from MetLife as senior vice president and head of alternative investments. He was also a member of the ILPA board for five years through fall 2015 and served his last three years as chairman.

Intercontinental Exchange, an operator of global exchanges and clearinghouses and provider of data and listings services, named Warren Gardiner vice president of investor relations. Gardiner previously was director of equity research for financial information and exchanges at Evercore ISI.

Mizuho Americas, a subsidiary of Japan’s Mizuho Financial Group, named Difei Yang executive director of SMID cap biotechnology research. Yang previously was managing director at Aegis Capital.

Moelis & Co named Pablo de la Infiesta a managing director and head of the investment bank’s private funds advisory group in EMEA. He most recently served as a managing director and European head of the private capital advisory group at Lazard.

PE Facility Solutions, a manager of facilities for corporate real estate owners, tapped Christopher Lake chief financial officer. Lake previously was finance director at Riverside Co. Prior to that post, he was CFO for various portfolio companies backed by Brookside Equity Partners.

Snapsheet, the Chicago provider of virtual claims software for the personal and commercial insurance sector, named Vic Pascucci to the board. Pascucci is a managing partner at Lightbank Capital.

Tudor, Pickering, Holt appointed Geraldine Murphy a managing director in its investment banking business. She most recently was global head of the oil and gas corporate advisory at Standard Chartered Bank.

Wells Fargo Asset Management named Jonathan Hobbs head of U.S. portfolio solutions and Kevin Kneafsey as a senior investment strategist with the multiasset client solutions group. Hobbs previously led the client solutions office at BlackRock in San Francisco while Kneafsey was senior adviser for the Schroders multiasset team.

PROMOTIONS

Castle Harlan promoted Murat T. Konuk and Patrick A. Zyla to vice president. Konuk joined the middle-market private equity firm in 2013 while Zyla came on board in 2014.

Harvest Hill Beverage Co, backed by Brynwood Partners, promoted David Champlin to president of sales and Bean Kingsbury to executive vice president. Harvest Hill is the Stamford, Connecticut, maker of beverages.
