KKR announces new leadership for its private equity businesses

PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS

KKR named new leadership for its private equity businesses: Pete Stavros and Nate Taylor were promoted to co-lead the business in America; Mattia Caprioli and Philipp Freise will co-lead the business in Europe; Hiro Hirano and Ashish Shastry will co-lead the business in Asia-Pacific.

New Enterprise Associates promoted Ed Mathers to general partner and Blake Wu to partner on the healthcare investing team. Mathers first joined NEA in 2008 while Wu came on board in 2014.

Lightspeed Venture Partners hired five people: David Baga as COO; Mercedes Bent, James Ephrati, Anoushka Vaswani and Rytis Vitkauskas.

Sorenson Capital promoted Burke Davis to principal. He joined the firm as an associate in 2014 and was named a vice president in 2016.

Halifax Group hired Doug Hill as a partner and member of the firm’s investment committee. Hill comes from Nautic Partners.

Kell Reilly joined General Atlantic as a managing director. Reilly previously served as co-head of technology, media & telecommunications at D1 Capital Partners.

Concord Health Partners named Tim Leahy as a managing director. He was previously managing director at BelHealth Investment Partners.

EduLab Capital Partners hired Edwin Derecho as chief financial officer and Dahler Battle as senior associate. Derecho was previously manager of international treasury for RCA and vice president in M&A at Citibank; Battle was an associate at Village Capital.

Walter Capital Partners named Éric Doyon as managing partner. Doyon was previously managing partner of Entrepreneur Capital.

Next Coast Ventures named Zaz Floreani as a principal. She previously worked at Dropoff where she served as vice president of corporate development.

Bridge Growth Partners announced Don Callahan joined the firm as an executive partner. Callahan is the former global head of technology, operations and shared services of Citigroup.

Black Dragon Capital hired Allen Caviles as an adviser. Caviles is the CEO of PayMaple LLC.

Justin Sunshine joined General Atlantic as a managing director in its New York office with focus on the healthcare sector. Previously he was a managing director at Blackstone.

HKW hired Joonhyung Rhim as a vice president on the firm’s transaction team. Rhim was previously a director at Parallaxes Capital.

Patrick Reilly was named global chief financial officer of e.ventures. Previously Reilly was CFO at TCV.

Elsewhere Partners named Josh Stephens as chief technology officer. Stephens had been an adviser to the firm since 2015.

Varsity Healthcare Partners promoted Michael Fisher to partner. Fisher joined the firm in 2016.

Pelion Venture Partners named Jeff Kearl as managing director. Kearl is a co-founder and former CEO of Stance.

Phoenix Rehabilitation and Health Services Inc, a provider of out-patient rehabilitation centers, named Chris Ciatto as CEO. Phoenix is backed by Audax.

Attentive, a personalized mobile messaging SaaS platform for brands and organizations, named Harry Heymann as chief technical officer. Attentive’s backers include Sequoia Capital, IVP, High Alpha, Bain Capital Ventures, Eniac Ventures and NextView Ventures.

Swizznet, a provider of IT solutions to businesses, named Bob Hollander as president and member of its board of directors. Swizznet is backed by Bluff Point Associates.

TF Holdings promoted Ranga Kothamasu to president. The software and financial services company is backed by Sequoia and Technology Crossover Ventures.

Noveome Biotherapeutics Inc, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, named Kevin E. McCracken as senior vice president of operations. Noveome’s backers include Lancet Capital, UPMC Health Systems, Highmark Health, University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.

New Enterprise Associates-backed Luminary Media, a content podcast subscription service, named former president and chief revenue officer of HBO Simon Sutton as CEO.

Riverpoint Medical, a provider of medical devices backed by Arlington Capital, named Doug J. King as CEO.

Showpad named Helen Yu as chief customer officer. The sales enablement solution company is backed by Dawn Capital and Insight Partners.

Global Franchise Group, a brand acquisition and management firm backed by Lion Capital and Serruya Private Equity, named Chris Cheek as chief development officer. The firm also promoted Annica Conrad as executive vice president of brand marketing; Pam Maxwell as vice president of franchise operations; Lisa Cheatham as vice president of growth marketing.

Zing Zang LLC, a non-alcoholic cocktail mix brand, named Brett Albertson as CEO. The company is backed by NexPhase Capital.

Herff Jones, a provider of graduation and educational products, named Steve Down as president. Herff Jones is a division of Varsity Brands, which is backed by Bain Capital Private Equity.

GTI Statia, an independent crude and refined product storage terminal serving the U.S. Gulf Coast and Caribbean markets, named John Roller as president and CEO; Jim Calvert as chief commercial officer; Karen Vázquez as chief financial officer. GTI Statia is backed by Prostar Capital.

GTCR-backed RevSpring, a provider of consumer and patient engagement and payment solutions, named Steve Callis as president of payments.

Kar’s Nuts named Victor Mehren as CEO. The maker of snack products is a portfolio company of Palladium Equity Partners.

Tier1 Financial Solutions, a global relationship management technology provider for capital markets and banking, named Paul Chesek as executive vice president of sales. Tier1 is backed by WaveCrest Growth Partners, MassMutual Ventures and Salesforce Ventures.

Coal producer Wolverine Fuels named Carson Pollastro as chief operating officer. The Utah-based company is backed by Galena Private Equity Resources Fund.

ReViral Ltd, a developer of novel, antiviral compounds that target respiratory syncytial virus, named Alan A. Musso as chief financial officer. ReViral’s backers include New Leaf Venture Partners, Novo Ventures, Perceptive Advisors, Andera Partners, OrbiMed and Brace Pharma Capital.

Doxim, a provider of customer communications and engagement technology to financial and regulated markets, named Michael Rogalski as president and CEO. The Toronto-based company is backed by Strattam Capital.

Bynder named Bert van der Zwan as CEO. Bynder is backed by Insight Venture Partners.

GI Partners-backed Togetherwork, a provider of group management software and payments, named Neal Keltz and Ken McDonald as general managers of business units and Chester Ritchie as senior vice president of payments.

Contentful, an enterprise headless CMS provider backed by Sapphire Ventures, made three new hires: Saood Shah as vice president of customer success; Kevin Zellmer as vice president of partners; Benjamin Keyser as vice president of partnerships.

Evercore named Pamela G. Carlton to its board of directors. Carlton is a former managing director and associate director of U.S. equity research at JPMorgan Chase.

Wells Fargo Strategic Capital named Dr. Rodney Altman as a managing director in its healthcare group. Altman is a part-time physician at Stanford University Medical Center.

Raymond James made four new hires: Robert Hutchinson as managing director, Andrew Stager as director, Calvin Chau as vice president and Frank Elder as analyst.

Goodwin added Kristopher Ring as a partner to its private equity and debt finance practices.

Ropes & Gray added Scott A. Abramowitz as a partner for its private equity practice.

Manulife Investment Management is launching a secondary investment business within its private markets group. Jeff Hammer and Paul Sanabria will serve as global co-heads. Both previously led the secondary advisory business at Houlihan Lokey.

Boston Private appointed Patrick Dwyer as managing director, head of strategic business development. Previously he worked at Merrill.

Legalist named Sean Liu as chief financial officer. Liu is the former investment director at SoftBank’s Vision Fund.

Houlihan Lokey named Jerome Brown as managing director and Austin Smith as vice president. Both previously worked at JMP Securities.

The JDRF T1D Fund, a venture philanthropy fund focused on accelerating life-changing solutions to cure, prevent and treat type 1 diabetes, named Dr. Steven St. Peter as a managing director. He’s former managing director at MPM Capital and ex-CEO of Aratana.
