VENTURE CAPITAL – Quester has the Power

Quester Capital Management has led a GBP7.9 million venture capital syndicate investing in Power X, a Manchester-based developer of leading edge high performance switch fabric silicon sub-systems.

In addition to Quester VCT and Quester VCT2, investors include Westpool Investment Trust, Celtic House Investment Partners, Taylor Young Investment Management, Pi Capital, British Smaller Technologies Companies VCT, and significant private investors.

Power X develops silicon sub-systems for the communication and computing industries. Its high performance, scalable switch fabric enables manufacturers of routers, switches and high performance computers to switch larger volumes of data more efficiently than alternative solutions. Demand for the technology is being driven by the rapid growth in Internet traffic, which is doubling every three to four months.

“Products like Power X’s TeraChannel are necessary to facilitate the Internet’s next phase of growth. It is exciting to see a Manchester company which can match anything Silicon Valley has to offer,” says Simon Acland, a director at Quester.
