Cadwalader Names John Rapisardi Co-Head of Restructuring Dep’t

Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP has named John Rapisardi as co-chairman of the firm’s financial restructuring department.

Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, one of the world’s leading law firms, announced that John J. Rapisardi has been named Co-Chairman of the firm’s Financial Restructuring Department, joining colleague Deryck A. Palmer in managing the 65-member team of lawyers.

Mr. Rapisardi has more than 25 years of domestic and international restructuring experience across a variety of industries, including telecommunications, satellite, retail, healthcare, casinos, sports franchises, real estate, and manufacturing companies. He has advised investors and financial institutions and written extensively on the subject of lender rights and remedies under the new Chinese Bankruptcy Code. He is co-author (with Mr. Palmer) of The PRC Enterprise Bankruptcy Law: The People’s Work in Progress (Beard Group, Inc., 2008). For the past ten years, Mr. Rapisardi has been a regular bankruptcy columnist for the New York Law Journal. He is a member of INSOL and is chair of its planning committee for INSOL’s Quadrennial Conference 2009 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Mr. Rapisardi has been named as a highly recommended international restructuring counsel in PLC Cross-border Restructuring and Insolvency Handbook, has been recognized as one of the leading restructuring lawyers in the U.S. by Chambers USA, and was included in Best Lawyers in America.

A Beta Gamma Sigma graduate from the College of Business Administration at Fordham University, Mr. Rapisardi received his LL.M. from New York University and J.D. from Pace University and served on the Pace Law Review. Mr. Rapisardi clerked for two years for the then Chief Bankruptcy Judge of the Southern District of New York.
