LONDON (Reuters) – Candover Investments (CDI.L), the listed private equity vehicle, said on Thursday one of its funds was in exclusive talks about selling its equity stake in energy research and consulting firm Wood Mackenzie.
Earlier this week a person familiar with the matter said private equity firm Charterhouse Capital Partners [CHCAP.UL] was in exclusive talks about buying Wood Mackenzie for about 550 million pounds ($885 million).
However, Candover did not name the potential acquirer and said there was no certainty a deal would be completed.
A sale of Edinburgh-based Wood Mackenzie would provide a welcome cash infusion for Candover Investments, which is itself in talks about a takeover or stake sale. (Reporting by Quentin Webb and Ben Deighton; Editing by Dan Lalor) ($1 = 0.6215 pound)
