Cantor Fitzgerald has added five U.S. staffers to its European leveraged finance team: Stuart Levett, James Franz, Robert Hartman, Jack Czarnota and Imran Khan.
Cantor Fitzgerald announced today five key hires in its Leveraged Finance: High Yield & Distressed team in Europe. Stuart Levett, James Franz, Robert Hartman, Jack Czarnota, and Imran Khan join a growing group of U.S. based professionals, strengthening Cantor’s global presence in response to client interest and demand for broader product and service penetration across asset classes in the European marketplace.

The following new members of Cantor’s team are based in the firm’s London offices:
James Franz joins Cantor as Managing Director and Head of European High Yield and Distressed business. Prior to Cantor, Mr. Franz was the senior salesperson at Citigroup in London responsible for High Yield and Distressed Sales to European investors since 2000. He was previously at Schroders in New York. Mr. Franz graduated from Williams College with a Bachelor of Arts.
Jack Czarnota joins Cantor as Managing Director from Citigroup in London, where he was a Director and senior high yield salesperson from 2000-2008. Prior to Citigroup, Mr. Czarnota was at ING Barings as a high yield salesperson and Paribas in fixed income research, principal trading group and sales. Mr. Czarnota began his career at JP Morgan Chase in corporate credit research and he holds a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University and a MSC from the London School of Economics.
Stuart Levett joins Cantor as Managing Director from the Credit Suisse Distressed Trading Group in London. Since 2003, Mr. Levett was the senior originator of par and distressed assets as a senior salesperson covering banks, CLO investors and specialist loan funds. He began there in 2000 with the acquisition of DLJ where he worked as a senior leveraged finance salesperson covering the UK, Japan and Europe. Mr. Levett is a well recognized veteran within the distressed and leveraged investor base, with exceptional relationships in the bank, CLO and hedge fund community.
Imran Khan joins Cantor Fitzgerald from Goldman Sachs where he was most recently a buy-side trader in the European Special Situations Group. Mr. Khan joined the Analyst Class of 2005 at Goldman Sachs, after graduating from the LSE, University of London with an undergraduate honours degree in Banking & Finance, and was promoted to Associate in 2008. He has accumulated trading experience across multi-asset products including bank debt, high yield and investment grade cash, CDS and equities, and is fully versed in the market practices and of loan and bond trading.
Robert Hartman joins with over 28 years of experience in non-investment grade credit markets globally and has spent the last 21 years based in London. Prior to joining Cantor, Mr. Hardtman was a partner and leveraged credit portfolio manager at Picus Capital Management in Mayfair. Before that he was Head of High Yield Sales and Trading at WestLB Panmure where he also managed a proprietary book of leveraged finance assets. In 1997 he was one of the founders of the leveraged finance group at DLJ in London.
Cantor Fitzgerald added nearly a hundred sales and trading professionals in 2008 and another 125 new strategic hires since the first of this year to its Debt Capital Markets Group and is continuing to grow its fixed income, equity and investment banking businesses.
