Carlyle taps KKR’s Farr as senior adviser for credit arm

The Carlyle Group has hired Craig Farr, the former global head of capital markets at KKR, as a senior adviser for its global credit group. Farr’s appointment became effective January 25, 2017.

In his new role, Farr will help create new strategic initiatives and partnerships across Carlyle’s credit platform, which includes loans and structured credit, private credit, energy credit and distressed credit.

Farr first joined KKR in 2006. Other leadership positions he held at the firm were head of KKR Credit Services and CEO and president of KKR Financial Holdings LLC.

Prior to KKR, Farr was at Citigroup where he worked for 12 years at Citigroup Global Markets Holdings Inc, serving as managing director, co-head of North American equity capital markets and head of U.S. convertible and corporate equity derivative origination.

Farr has been a director at Vanbridge Holdings LLC since 2016.

Early in his career, Farr worked at Salomon Brothers‘ investment banking division.
