Michael C. Cassetta has joined GB Merchant Partners as a managing director in the debt investment group. Cassetta is a senior investment professional with fourteen years of investment management and credit experience. His primary focus will be on private market debt underwriting and opportunistic secondary market investments.
Gordon Brothers Group announced today that Michael C. Cassetta has joined its investment management affiliate, GB Merchant Partners, as a managing director in the Debt Investment Group. Mr. Cassetta is a senior investment professional with fourteen years of investment management and credit experience. His primary focus will be on private market debt underwriting and opportunistic secondary market investments.
Mr. Cassetta brings to Gordon Brothers Group several years of experience analyzing and underwriting both public and private debt and equity investments across the capital structure. Prior to his role at GB Merchant Partners, he was a portfolio manager with Pioneerpath Capital, an affiliate of Citadel Investment Group. There he was responsible for portfolio management, risk management, idea sourcing and analytics. Mr. Cassetta’s expertise is grounded in his past work within the agriculture, coal, steel, mining, transportation, metals, aerospace, packing and building materials sub-sectors.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Cassetta held positions at Davidson Kempner Partners and Heartland Industrial Partners where his responsibilities included the analysis and execution of various distressed debt and event driven equity ideas along with arranging and overseeing $4.5 billion of financing, spanning all forms of debt and equity investments. He began his career as an analyst in the Acquisition Finance Group at JP Morgan Chase.
He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School with distinction and a BS in Accountancy from Bentley University.
