Centerfield Buys Into Trans-Coil

Centerfield Capital Partners has sponsored a management-led buyout of Trans-Coil LLC, a Milwaukee –based maker of variable frequency drive peripherals. No financial terms were disclosed.

Centerfield Capital Partners announced today it has invested in Trans-Coil, LLC. Trans-Coil is a leading developer and manufacturer of variable frequency drive peripherals. Centerfield provided subordinated debt and an equity co-investment to support the management-led buyout of the company. A group of private investors also participated with management in the transaction, which closed on July 25th. Trans-Coil is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Variable frequency drives are commonly used to control electric motors used in wastewater treatment, oil and gas industries, chemical plants, and a variety of other industrial applications. Trans-Coil’s products enhance drive performance by eliminating distortions and voltage peaks in the power supply, resulting in reduced maintenance costs as well as energy savings. The company’s Sine Guard and Harmonic Guard filters are recognized as market leaders in the low voltage drive peripherals market.

“This is a very exciting time for our company” said Steve Copp, President of Trans-Coil. “The company has enjoyed considerable success in the North American market over the past five years. In addition to continuing our focus on traditional markets, the company is expanding its product offerings to include products associated with the power conversion/power quality market. Our new partnership with Centerfield provides access to a level of capital that will allow the company to fund planned expansion within North America as well as in targeted international markets.”

Matt Hook, a Partner at Centerfield, stated “We are excited about our new partnership with Steve Copp and the team at Trans-Coil. Under Steve’s leadership, the company has achieved solid growth. With the addition of new product offerings and financial resources, Trans-Coil is well positioned to further capitalize on increasing demand in the low voltage filter market.”
