Centerview Partners Launch Restructuring Advisory Practice

Centerview Partners poached a pair of Miller Buckfire & Co. veterans, bringing Sam Greene and Mark Puntus on board to work on its restructuring advisory practice that it just launched. Greene was one of the original members of Wasserstein Perella & Co.’s restructuring group, which he joined in 1997; Puntus has experience working with Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.

Centerview Partners Hires Sam Greene and Marc Puntus to Establish Restructuring Advisory Practice
New York, NY (July 1, 2011) – Centerview Partners announced today that Marc Puntus and Sam Greene are joining the firm as partners and will establish a new restructuring advisory practice in mid-July.
Mr. Puntus and Mr. Greene join Centerview from Miller Buckfire & Co., where they both served as Managing Directors. They have worked in the restructuring sector for over 15 years, including over 10 years during which they worked together. Mr. Greene and Mr. Puntus have among the broadest bases of experience in the restructuring industry and have worked closely with companies, creditors, and other constituents across a wide range of industries. Their transaction experience includes Calpine Corporation, CMS Energy, Foxwoods, Gate Gourmet, MagnaChip, Mirant, OSI Restaurants Partners, Pegasus Communications, Station Casinos, Sunbeam, TECO Energy and Vonage Corporation. Collectively, Mr. Greene and Mr. Puntus have restructured more than $50 billion worth of obligations.

Mr. Greene is a member of several industry trade organizations including the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association and is a frequent lecturer on restructuring topics. Mr. Greene is the recipient of the TMA’s 2008 Turnaround of the Year award for his work on the restructuring of Calpine Corporation.
Mr. Greene has a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and a B.A. (with honors) from the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Puntus brings a wealth of experience leading restructuring, financing and mergers and acquisitions assignments across multiple industries.
Prior to Miller Buckfire & Co., Mr. Puntus was a member of the financial restructuring group at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, which he joined in early 2001. Prior to joining DrKW, Mr. Puntus was a Partner in the Business, Finance and Restructuring department of the international law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.
Mr. Puntus is a member of several industry trade organizations, including the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association, is a frequent lecturer on restructuring, financing and M&A topics.
He has a J.D. (cum laude) from Boston University School of Law and a B.S.B.A./Finance (magna cum laude) from Georgetown University.
