Press Release

Australia’s pioneering private equity firm, CHAMP Private Equity, has announced the appointment of Mr John Haddock as its first Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Haddock will retain his present position of Managing Director, and continue his active role in deal flow generation and portfolio management. As CEO he assumes the additional responsibility for the overall management of CHAMP’s investment program together with the day-to-day management of  the firm.

Welcoming Mr Haddock’s promotion, founding partners Bill Ferris and Joe Skrzynski said, “John’s passion for private equity and obvious pleasure in achieving outstanding results for investors, his extensive private equity experience and deep commitment to the CHAMP philosophy, admirably suit him for this important role.

“We are very pleased with this appointment and look forward to continuing our leadership roles on the CHAMP investment committees and boards while at the same time offering John our guidance and support.”

John joined CHAMP in 2002, prior to which he had experience in investment banking, in M&A and debt and equity capital markets. He has worked not only in Australia, but also in New York at CHAMP’s affiliate, Castle Harlan, Inc.

Among the deals which John has led, United Malt Holdings and Accolade Wines are two of CHAMP’s most successful signature cross border investments. In leading these companies, John has been intimately involved operationally in their activities globally, as well as in Australia. He brings this experience and international perspective to his new position.

Mr Haddock said, “It is indeed an exciting opportunity for me given CHAMP’s outstanding reputation and success. This platform is enhanced by our unique deal network, into Asia through our successfully established Singapore office, and into North America through our New York based affiliate.”

“I greatly appreciate Bill and Joe’s continued active involvement in CHAMP. The entrepreneurial culture they have fostered not only focuses on achieving outstanding returns to investors but also on giving back to the community and I am honoured to play a leadership role in continuing this culture.” Mr Haddock’s appointment is effective immediately.
