Champlain Financial acquires seafood company Cheticamp

Canadian private equity firm Champlain Financial Corp has acquired Cheticamp Fisheries International Ltd, a branded seafood processor and wholesale distributor based in Cheticamp, Nova Scotia. No financial terms were released for the deal, which was announced by Ascendiant Capital Markets LLC, the company’s financial advisor. Led by President Pierre LeBlanc, Cheticamp supplies snow crab and lobster to customers in the United States, Canada, and Asia. Montréal-based Champlain is focused on small and mid-market investment opportunities.

IRVINE, Calif., May 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Ascendiant Capital Markets, LLC (www.ascendiant.com) announced today the acquisition of its client, Cheticamp Fisheries International Ltd. of Cheticamp, Nova Scotia, Canada (“Cheticamp”), by Champlain Financial Corporation, headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Canada (“Champlain”). Cheticamp is a leading branded seafood processor and wholesale distributor, supplying the finest quality snow crab and lobster to customers in the United States, Canada, and Asia. Champlain, a Canadian private holding company, has been building a diversified private investment portfolio with a series of investments throughout Canada and the United States. Champlain’s core focus is to serve as a value-added partner in providing equity capital and growth management expertise to small and middle-market companies.
