Charterhouse sells BvD to EQT

Charterhouse Capital Partners has sold Bureau van Dijk Electronic Publishing to EQT VI. Founded in 1991 in the Netherlands, Bureau van Dijk is a global publisher of financial and commercial information. Charterhouse Capital Partners will retain a minority stake in BvD. Goldman Sachs Principal Investment Area will acquire a minority stake in the company. Ashurst advised Charterhouse in connection with the sale.

Ashurst has advised funds managed by Charterhouse Capital Partners in connection with the sale of Bureau van Dijk Electronic Publishing (BvD) to EQT VI.
Founded in 1991 in the Netherlands, Bureau van Dijk is the leading global publisher of financial and commercial information and is recognized for its range of financial analysis data and private company information, published in partnership with other reputed information providers. Its databases provide business information at a national, regional and international level. BvD is known for such products as Bankscope, Amadeus, Mint, Zephir and particularly Orbis, the global platform which covers 130 million clients worldwide and represents the result of BvD’s collaboration with more than 100 sources. BVD has over 650 employees operating from 33 offices across Europe, the Americas and the Asia-Pacific region.
Charterhouse Capital Partners will retain a minority stake in BvD. Goldman Sachs Principal Investment Area will acquire a minority stake in the company.
Closing of the transaction is expected in September 2014, subject to customary antitrust approvals.
The transaction was led by Ashurst Paris with Partner Yann Gozal, assisted by Julien Rebibo, Aurélie Chazai and Pauline Laredo, Associates.
