Conversus Buys CalPERS Stakes

Conversus Capital has agreed to acquire a portfolio of private equity fund interests from CalPERS. The portfolio has a net asset value of approximately $189 million and around $25 million in unfunded commitments, as of June 30, 2007. Conversus was joined by four syndicate partners, including Oak Hill Investment Management.

Conversus Capital, L.P. (Euronext Amsterdam:CCAP) (“Conversus”) announced that it, along with four other members of a syndicate, has entered into a binding agreement with the California Public Employees' Retirement System (“CalPERS”) to acquire an attractive portfolio of private equity funds. The portion of the portfolio acquired by Conversus has a net asset value of approximately $189 million and unfunded commitments of approximately $25 million, both as of June 30, 2007.

A first closing of the acquisition is expected by the end of March 2008, subject to completion of normal transfer and legal processes.

 

The syndicate was represented by Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. Winston & Strawn LLP served as special counsel to Conversus and Oak Hill.
