Coulton Creek exits Punch Bowl Social

Coulton Creek Capital has sold its stake in Punch Bowl Social, a restaurant and bar chain that also features bowling. No financial terms were disclosed. The exit comes in the wake of news previously reported by PE HUB that L Catteron made an undisclosed investment in Punch Bowl Social.

DENVER, July 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Coulton Creek Capital, a Denver-based private investment firm, is pleased to announce that it has successfully exited numerous investments in the rapidly growing restaurant-entertainment brand Punch Bowl Social. Punch Bowl Social has received an investment from consumer-focused private equity firm L Catterton.

Coulton Creek Capital
Coulton Creek Capital has played a large role in Punch Bowl Social’s expansion from a two-location restaurant concept to a nine-unit national brand. With investments in Punch Bowl Social’s Austin, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Rancho Cucamonga, CA locations and planned Stapleton, CO location, Coulton Creek has provided Punch Bowl Social with a wide range of debt and preferred equity investments to fund new locations.

“We knew we had an exciting concept with Punch Bowl Social that proved out with the success our first location in Denver,” said the company’s founder Robert Thompson. “Coulton Creek’s investments helped us expand nationally and prepare for our next stage of growth. We’re thankful for the confidence the Coulton Creek team showed us over the past several years.”

“We’re excited for Robert Thompson, CFO & Principal Rob Cornog and the entire Punch Bowl Social team,” said Coulton Creek Capital’s Managing Director Chris Hanks. “The restaurant space is highly competitive, but Punch Bowl has been able to create a unique experience and recipe for success. L Catterton’s consumer expertise will undoubtedly help Punch Bowl reach its expansion goals.”

“From the perspective of our investors and shareholders, we’re happy to report this successful exit,” continued Hanks. “Coulton Creek has developed a highly sought-after niche of filling financing gaps for companies like Punch Bowl, and we love to see success stories like theirs.”
