PRESS RELEASE
England & Company, a Washington, DC-based middle market merchant bank, announced today that Craig MacKay has joined the firm as a partner, Managing Director and head of its newly established New York office. MacKay, formerly head of private finance at Oppenheimer & Co., will expand England Securities’ efforts to raise growth capital for private companies in selected industries, including Energy & Infrastructure Technology, Financial Services, Healthcare, and Information Technology & Business Services. In the span of his 20-plus year banking career, MacKay has originated, structured and/or syndicated more than $9 billion of institutional private capital for middle market companies.
“The importance of the private capital markets has grown exponentially as the middle market has been effectively shut out of the public markets,” said Craig England, CEO of England & Company. “Craig MacKay brings a wealth of experience working with a broad cross-section of fund managers, institutional investors and financial institutions in raising growth capital for private companies. We’re delighted to welcome him to the team as we continue to expand both our geographic footprint and our investor relationship universe for clients across all of our industry sectors.”
“England & Company has a stellar reputation as a trusted advisor and a proven track record of executing transactions under a variety of market conditions,” said MacKay. “I look forward to leveraging my particular expertise in crafting and executing private capital transactions to provide our clients with creative solutions that help them achieve their strategic objectives. England’s approach to client work is distinguished by the team’s unique blend of advisory expertise, coupled with direct investment and operating experience. I believe our expansion in New York will introduce our brand of thoughtful execution to a host of new clients.”
MacKay previously served as a managing director and head of private finance at Oppenheimer & Co. (formerly CIBC World Markets), which closed 20 transactions aggregating nearly $2 billion in financings under his leadership. Prior to Oppenheimer, he was a managing director and head of private finance at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, where he led his group to close over 25 transactions aggregating approximately $2.8 billion in proceeds. Before joining SunTrust, MacKay was the founder and managing member of HNY Associates, a New York-based merchant banking boutique. HNY completed numerous advisory transactions and acquired two business services platforms through its direct investment affiliate HNY Holdings.
MacKay received his BS in Economics and MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
