Digital Chocolate Eats Up Sandlot Games

Social gaming company Digital Chocolate Inc. has acquired casual gaming company Sandlot Games, the maker of mobile and web games like Super Granny and Cake Mania. Terms of the deal were not released. Digital Chocolate is backed by a slew of high-profile investors, including Bridgescale Partners, Sequoia Capital, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Sutter Hill Ventures.

Digital Chocolate Inc., a leader in social games across growing digital platforms, announced today it has agreed to acquire Sandlot Games, a leading casual game developer and publisher. Sandlot Games is best known for web and mobile brands including Cake Mania®, Super Granny®, Tradewinds® and Westward®.

“Sandlot has built a great reputation in casual games,” said Trip Hawkins, Founder and CEO of Digital Chocolate. “We love their development teams and we can now expand further in Seattle and Eastern Europe. We expect to be the leading game company in at least 5 of the 7 cities where we now have development studios.”

With Sandlot Games, Digital Chocolate will have access to more developers and grow faster in pursuit of its cross-platform leadership strategy. The company makes social games that reach customers on every screen or device and has delivered more than 100 million game installs on the web, on mobile smartphones and on Facebook. Its leading brands include Army Attack, Zombie Lane and Millionaire City.
