Aaron Dorr, a veteran banker recently let go by Jefferies & Co., has found a new home.
Dorr has joined Sandler O’Neill and will head the firm’s asset management group, according to a statement. Dorr will be based in New York and will report to Brian Sterling and William Hickey, Sander’s co-heads of investment banking.
In February, I reported that Dorr and Kevin Pakenham, both MDs in financial institutions group at Jefferies, would be leaving the investment bank. Jefferies, at that time, also let go of Karamvir Gosal, and MD, as well as two junior bankers. Pakenham, Dorr and Gosal all hail from Putnam Lovell, which Jefferies acquired in 2007.
Sandler, a New York investment bank known for advising financial services firms, was also in the news recently. Kelso & Co. and the Carlyle Group, in November, made a substantial minority investment in Sandler.
