The view here at the Russian Private Equity Forum is that leveraged buyouts in Russia are rare because of the high cost of capital in the country. But Eagle Venture Partners has launched a new fund in conjunction with VTB – Russia’s premier investment bank and with this strategic relationship in place the company is planning a couple of leveraged buyouts this year.
I caught the ear of Jan Dewijngaert, managing partner of Eagle Venture Partners and asked him directly if he was getting cheaper rates through this partnership.
“No, but we have our foot in the door with the most important lender in Russia.”
“So if you aren’t getting more preferential lending rates then you are some how more adept at adding value to these companies?”
Eagle Venture Partners is stepping outside its comfort zone and contributing to the growth of LBOs in Russia. Watch this space.
