Robert Eckert, the former Chairman and CEO of Mattel, has joined FFL as an Operating Partner. Eckert served as CEO of Mattel from 2000 to 2011, and as Chairman from 2000 to 2012. San Francisco-based FFL, a private equity firm, focuses on investments in the middle market.
SAN FRANCISCO—September 25, 2014— FFL, a private equity firm focused on investments in middle market companies, today announced that Robert A. Eckert, former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mattel, Inc., has joined the firm as an Operating Partner.

Eckert most recently served as CEO of Mattel, Inc. from 2000 to 2011, and as Chairman from 2000 to 2012. During his tenure as CEO, Mattel experienced strong growth, improved operating margins, and generated over $8.2 billion of cash flow. Prior to joining Mattel, Eckert was President and CEO of Kraft foods, the largest U.S.-based packaged foods company in the world. Eckert also served as President of Kraft’s Oscar Mayer Foods division and held a variety of other senior level positions. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of McDonald’s Corporation, Levi Strauss & Co., and Amgen, Inc.

Eckert received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Arizona and an MBA in marketing and finance from Northwestern University. Kellogg Graduate School of Management Global Advisory Board at Northwestern University, and the Board of Governors at Pardee Rand Graduate School. He also is a member of the World Presidents’ Organization in Los Angeles, a director of the Pacific Council on International Policy, and a trustee of the Haynes Foundation.
