eDocs Founder Joins Sigma

Kevin Laracey has joined Sigma Partners as a Boston-based venture partner. He is the founder and former CEO of eDocs, and most recently was vice president and GM of Siebel System's Customer Self Service Group.

Sigma Partners, an early-stage technology venture capital firm founded in 1984, today announced the addition of Kevin Laracey as a venture partner. With more than 20 years of experience as an
entrepreneur and operating executive in technology companies, Kevin exemplifies Sigma's philosophy that success as an entrepreneur is critical to achieving success as an investor in early stage companies. He will be leveraging his expertise and network to help entrepreneurs turn innovative ideas into successful companies.

Kevin's operational experience includes being a founder & CEO, a software engineer, a marketing executive, and a general manager. Kevin founded edocs, a leading provider of self-service, online billing and payment solutions used by many of the world's largest telecommunications, financial services, and healthcare companies. edocs was a multi-year member of the Inc. 500 and Deloitte & Touche Fast 500 lists prior to being sold to Siebel Systems,
now part of Oracle, in 2005.

“Kevin brings to Sigma an impressive operating background and a great deal of experience working with entrepreneurs in early stage technology companies,” said Bob Davoli, a managing director in Sigma's Boston office. “He is a great asset to our firm and we are excited to have him on the team.”

Just before joining Sigma, Kevin was Vice President and GM of Siebel System's Customer Self Service Group, where he helped the self-service group grow revenues nearly 50% in its first year after the acquisition. Kevin has also held senior management and operational roles at Elixir Technologies and the Travelers Companies. Kevin earned a Master of Business Administration degree from UCLA's Anderson School of Management and
received a Bachelor of Arts degree with high honors from University of Notre Dame.

“The partners at Sigma have a track record of discovering great
entrepreneurs and helping them to turn their ideas into exceptional
companies by leveraging their own experience as entrepreneurs and operating executives,” commented Kevin Laracey. “I am looking forward to being part of such a great team.”

Kevin Laracey is based in Sigma Partners' Boston office, one of three national offices that invest in a variety of technology industry segments throughout the U.S. As a venture partner he will be exploring new investment opportunities in a wide range of markets.
