PRESS RELEASE

Edxus Group, an education technology company established to develop and acquire e-learning businesses, today announced that two highly experienced angels and media executives have joined the company. Simon Guild was formerly MTV Networks Europe CEO and is currently Board Director at some of Europe’s most successful venture capital-backed companies including BigPoint, Spreadshirt, Rentify and Babbel. Jeff Kupsky was former Turner Broadcasting Europe President and is currently Board Director of award-winning e-learning platform Immerse Learning. Together, they will support Edxus Group’s plans for integration and expansion in the education technology market, bringing a powerful blend of media experience and technology start-up knowledge to the Edxus Group as it establishes itself at the forefront of the education technology industry.
“Media and education are both about delivering relevant content to audiences and both have been, or are being, disrupted by digital technologies in the very same way,” explained Benjamin Vedrenne-Cloquet, CEO and co-founder of the Edxus Group and former executive at Time Warner. “The same trends that have affected the media industry over the past 10 years will be seen again in education, creating fascinating parallels and predictable investment opportunities.”
The immediate priority for the expanded Edxus team will be the closing of the first deals in its wider acquisition campaign. The terms for the initial acquisitions have now been agreed and the Edxus Group expects to make further announcements in the New Year. The acquisition strategy will bring together complementary expertise and products in curricula, data and instructional systems to form the ‘magic triangle’ of digital education to build a market-leading European education champion.
For the past 12 months Benjamin and Edxus co-founders Charles McIntyre and Henry Chamberlain, CEO and Partner at media investment and advisory firm IBIS Capital, have been focusing on identifying the best K12 software target companies across Europe. Additionally, they have been fine tuning the European roll-out strategy and building EdTech Europe, a pan-regional networking platform that connects all the players in the European e-learning ecosystem.
“We want to build a world leading platform that can both grow and consolidate the European K12 e-learning industry,” said Charles McIntyre. “We are thrilled to welcome these two top senior executives with operational and board experience at both large media corporations and tech start-ups. Both Jeff and Simon see, as we do, an unprecedented level of disruption in the years ahead in education and so with it, a tremendous opportunity for investment and consolidation.”
“This is good news for Edxus, and also good news for the entire EdTech ecosystem. I hope it will encourage other senior executives from industries that have undergone their digital transition to support e-learning and innovation in education,” concluded Vedrenne-Cloquet.
