Ex-NGP execs form energy private equity firm Citrine

Former Natural Gas Partners executives William Quinn, Tomas Ackerman and Daniel Goodman have launched Citrine Energy Capital Management, a new Houston and Dallas-based energy private equity firm, the firm announced today.

Citrine will focus on small and middle market investments between $25 million and $75 million that target North American upstream, midstream and oilfield services. It’s not clear if the firm plans to raise a fund. However, NGP has agreed to make an undisclosed investment in Citrine.

Prior to leaving NGP, Quinn was a managing partner at the firm while Ackerman was a managing director and head of NGP’s Houston office. Goodman served as a principal at NGP’s Houston office.

In addition to Quinn, Ackerman and Goodman, David Levinson has joined the senior leadership team as a chief operating officer at Citrine.
