PRESS RELEASE

LONDON, 11 AUGUST 2021. EY today announces the appointment of Bill Stoffel as the new EY Global Private Equity (PE) Leader.

As Global PE Leader, Bill will be responsible for driving EY Global Private Equity strategic priorities and solutions such as environmental, social and governance (ESG) and digital, both of which are top of mind for EY PE clients and the internal EY PE community. He will leverage his extensive experience working with PE clients to accelerate growth through the development of new technology-driven PE solutions and by enhancing market coordination with EY PE market segments.

Bill previously served as EY Americas Private Equity Leader for five years, during which time he helped to bring PE into the mainstream of EY by focusing on an enterprise-wide service delivery model for PE funds and portfolio companies.

Bill succeeds Andres Saenz, who served as the sector leader since 2018, and has been recently appointed as the new EY Global Vice Chair – Industry.

Andres Saenz, EY Global Vice Chair – Industry, says:
“The private equity industry is being reshaped by a multitude of trends that will determine how businesses will work tomorrow. Firms without a plan for the future will be disrupted, while those that adapt and embrace change will access new opportunities for growth – which is why EY focusses on building the highest performing teams to help fund and portfolio companies adapt and become agile. I am confident that Bill’s leadership ability, commitment, knowledge and extensive experience of the PE industry will enhance the value EY teams bring to PE firms and their portfolio companies across the globe.

Having led more than 500 transactions with valuations ranging from US$25m to US$6b, Bill has deep knowledge across industries such as software, technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, chemicals and financial services. Seasoned in cross-border transactions, Bill’s work has spanned projects in M&A, corporate finance, due diligence, portfolio performance analysis and transaction support in North America, Europe and Asia.

Bill Stoffel, EY Global Private Equity Leader, says:
“PE is a relatively young industry; however, it has reached a stage of maturity that requires its stakeholders to re-evaluate its long-term strategy and solidify its position as a contributor to and accelerator of our global economy. The prospering global private equity landscape and soaring valuations in the US and Europe are driving PE funds to seek opportunities that provide both growth and stability in less mature markets—this environment demands rich regional expertise and strong connectivity between EY PE practitioners in mature and emerging markets. I look forward to working with our experienced and agile team across the globe and help clients prepare for future disruption.”
